1در آن هنگام خداوند به من فرمود: «دو لوح سنگی ديگر مانند لوحهای قبلی بتراش و يک صندوق چوبی برای نگهداری آنها بساز و لوحها را همراه خود نزد من به كوه بياور.2من روی آن لوحها همان فرامينی را كه روی لوحهای اولی بود و تو آنها را شكستی، دوباره خواهم نوشت. آنگاه آنها را در صندوق بگذار.»3بنابراين من يک صندوق از چوب اقاقيا ساخته، دو لوح سنگی مانند لوحهای اول تراشيدم و لوحها را برداشته، از كوه بالا رفتم.4خدا دوباره ده فرمان را روی آنها نوشت و آنها را به من داد. (آنها همان فرامينی بودند كه وقتی همگی شما در پايين كوه جمع شده بوديد، از درون آتش روی كوه به شما داده بود.)5آنگاه از كوه پايين آمدم و طبق فرمان خداوند لوحها را در صندوقی كه ساخته بودم گذاشتم. آن لوحها تا امروز هم در آنجا قرار دارند.6سپس قوم اسرائيل از بئيروت بنیيعقان به موسيره كوچ كردند. در آنجا هارون درگذشت و مدفون گرديد و پسرش العازار به جای او به خدمت كاهنی پرداخت.7آنگاه به جُدجوده و از آنجا به يُطبات كه نهرهای فراوانی داشت، سفر كردند.8در آنجا بود كه خداوند قبيلهٔ لاوی را برای حمل صندوقی كه در آن ده فرمان خداوند قرار داشت انتخاب نمود تا در حضور او بايستند و او را خدمت كنند و به نام او بركت دهند، به طوری که تا امروز هم اين كار را انجام میدهند.9(به همين دليل است كه برای قبيلهٔ لاوی مثل قبايل ديگر سهمی در سرزمين موعود در نظر گرفته نشده است، زيرا همچنانكه خداوند به ايشان فرمود او خود ميراث ايشان است.)10چنانكه قبلاً هم گفتم برای دومين بار چهل شبانه روز در حضور خداوند در بالای كوه ماندم و خداوند بار ديگر التماسهای مرا اجابت فرمود و از نابود كردن شما صرفنظر نمود.11او به من فرمود: «برخيز و بنیاسرائيل را به سرزمينی كه به پدرانشان وعده دادهام هدايت كن تا به آنجا داخل شده، آن را تصاحب كنند.»
انتظار خدا از قوم اسرائيل
12اكنون ای قوم اسرائيل، خداوند از شما چه میخواهد، جز اينكه به سخنان او به دقت گوش كنيد و برای خير و آسايش خود، فرامينی را كه امروز به شما میدهد اطاعت كنيد و او را دوست داشته، با تمامی دل و جان او را پرستش كنيد.14زمين و آسمان از آن خداوند، خدای شماست؛15با وجود اين، او آنقدر به پدرانتان علاقمند بود و به حدی ايشان را دوست میداشت كه شما را كه فرزندان آنها هستيد انتخاب نمود تا بالاتر از هر قوم ديگری باشيد، همچنانكه امروز آشكار است.16بنابراين دست از سركشی برداريد و با تمام دل، مطيع خداوند شويد.17خداوند، خدايتان، خدای خدايان و رب الارباب است. او خدايی بزرگ و تواناست، خدای مهيبی كه از هيچكس جانبداری نمیكند و رشوه نمیگيرد.18به داد بيوهزنان و يتيمان میرسد.19غريبان را دوست میدارد و به آنها غذا و لباس میدهد. (شما هم بايد غريبان را دوست بداريد، زيرا خودتان هم در سرزمين مصر غريب بوديد.)20بايد از خداوند، خدايتان بترسيد و او را پرستش كنيد و از او جدا نشويد و فقط به نام او سوگند ياد كنيد.21او فخر شما و خدای شماست، خدايی كه معجزات عظيمی برای شما انجام داد و خود شاهد آنها بودهايد.22وقتی كه اجداد شما به مصر رفتند فقط هفتاد نفر بودند، ولی اكنون خداوند، خدايتان شما را به اندازهٔ ستارگان آسمان افزايش داده است!

Tablets like the first ones
1At that time the Lord said to me, ‘Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones and come up to me on the mountain. Also make a wooden ark.*2I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Then you are to put them in the ark.’3So I made the ark out of acacia wood and chiselled out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I went up on the mountain with the two tablets in my hands.4The Lord wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments he had proclaimed to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly. And the Lord gave them to me.5Then I came back down the mountain and put the tablets in the ark I had made, as the Lord commanded me, and they are there now.6(The Israelites travelled from the wells of Bene Jaakan to Moserah. There Aaron died and was buried, and Eleazar his son succeeded him as priest.7From there they travelled to Gudgodah and on to Jotbathah, a land with streams of water.8At that time the Lord set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister and to pronounce blessings in his name, as they still do today.9That is why the Levites have no share or inheritance among their fellow Israelites; the Lord is their inheritance, as the Lord your God told them.)10Now I had stayed on the mountain for forty days and forty nights, as I did the first time, and the Lord listened to me at this time also. It was not his will to destroy you.11‘Go,’ the Lord said to me, ‘and lead the people on their way, so that they may enter and possess the land that I swore to their ancestors to give them.’
Fear the Lord
12And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,13and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?14To the Lord your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.15Yet the Lord set his affection on your ancestors and loved them, and he chose you, their descendants, above all the nations – as it is today.16Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer.17For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.18He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.19And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt.20Fear the Lord your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name.21He is your praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.22Your ancestors who went down into Egypt were seventy in all, and now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars in the sky.
