Psalm 37 | O Livro

Salmo de David.

1 Não te irrites por causa dos maus, não tenhas inveja dos que praticam a maldade. 2 Porque em breve serão cortados como a erva; murcharão e ficarão sem vida. 3 Mas tu, confia no SENHOR e faz o bem; viverás seguro na Terra e terás o teu alimento garantido. 4 Alegra-te no SENHOR e ele te dará o que deseja o teu coração. 5 Entrega ao SENHOR tudo o que fizeres; confia nele e ele te ajudará em tudo. 6 Tornará evidente a tua inocência perante toda a gente, tal como a luz do dia que todos veem. A tua justiça brilhará como o Sol em pleno dia. 7 Descansa no SENHOR e espera pacientemente pela sua ação. Não te irrites por causa daqueles que vivem a executar só falsidades e que prosperam. 8 Não te indignes e deixa a ira; não te irrites, será só para teu prejuízo. 9 Porque os que fazem o mal serão destruídos; mas os que confiam no SENHOR herdarão a Terra. 10 Só mais um pouco de tempo e os maus desaparecerão; quando perguntares por eles, já não existirão. 11 Os mansos herdarão a Terra e gozarão da abundância da paz de Deus. 12 Aquele que despreza Deus pensa o mal dos justos; range os dentes de raiva contra eles. 13 O Senhor se rirá dele, pois sabe que está perto o momento de ser julgado. 14 Os maus armaram-se, com o propósito firme de assassinarem o pobre e o necessitado; de tirarem a vida aos que se conduzem com justiça. 15 Mas as suas espadas atravessarão os seus próprios corações, e os seus arcos serão desfeitos. 16 Vale mais o pouco que tem o homem justo do que toda a fortuna de uma abundância de perversos. 17 A força dos maus será quebrada, mas o SENHOR sustém os justos. 18 O SENHOR conhece os dias dos que andam na retidão; dar-lhes-á uma recompensa eterna. 19 Não deixará que fiquem prejudicados em tempos de dificuldade; mesmo em tempos de crise e de fome, terão o suficiente. 20 Mas os maus morrerão; os inimigos do SENHOR serão como a gordura no fogo; desaparecerão como fumaça. 21 Os ímpios pedem emprestado e ficam a dever; os justos se compadecem e até dão sem recompensa. 22 Aqueles que Deus abençoa herdarão a Terra; mas os que ele amaldiçoar desaparecerão. 23 Os passos dos homens retos são dirigidos pelo SENHOR, o qual tem prazer nas suas vidas. 24 Se tropeçarem, não ficarão caídos, porque o SENHOR os sustenta com a sua mão. 25 Já fui moço, e agora estou velho, e nunca vi uma pessoa justa abandonada, nem os seus filhos passarem fome. 26 São generosos e emprestam aos que precisam; os seus filhos são felizes. 27 Afasta-te do mal e pratica o bem, e viverás para sempre. 28 Porque o SENHOR ama a justiça e nunca abandonará o seu povo; será guardado em segurança para sempre. Os ímpios e os seus descendentes, esses morrerão. 29 Os que seguem a justiça herdarão a Terra e nela habitarão para sempre. 30 A boca dos que seguem a justiça fala com sabedoria, distinguindo o certo do errado. 31 A Lei de Deus está nos seus corações; os seus passos serão sempre firmes. 32 Os maus espiam os que praticam a justiça, procurando acusá-los e matá-los. 33 O SENHOR não deixará que caiam nas suas mãos; quando forem julgados, não serão condenados. 34 Espera no SENHOR e mantém-te firme no seu caminho. Ele te levantará para te dar a posse da Terra; verás os maus destruídos. 35 Vi realmente os ímpios espalharem-se e multiplicarem-se como certas plantas em clima propício; vi o seu poder crescer e confirmar-se. 36 Mas passado algum tempo tinham deixado de existir; procurei-os, mas não pude encontrá-los. 37 Repara naquele que anda sinceramente com Deus, naquele que pratica o que é reto; para esse, o futuro será feliz, será de paz. 38 Os que transgridem as leis divinas serão destruídos; a sua descendência será liquidada. 39 O SENHOR salva os que seguem a sua justiça; ele é o lugar onde me abrigo nos tempos de angústia; 40 O SENHOR ajudará e livrará dos perversos todos os que nele buscam refúgio.

He Will Not Forsake His Saints

1 * Of David. Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! 2 For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. 3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.* 4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. 6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. 7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! 8 Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. 9 For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land. 10 In just a little while, the wicked will be no more; though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there. 11 But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace. 12 The wicked plots against the righteous and gnashes his teeth at him, 13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he sees that his day is coming. 14 The wicked draw the sword and bend their bows to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose way is upright; 15 their sword shall enter their own heart, and their bows shall be broken. 16 Better is the little that the righteous has than the abundance of many wicked. 17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous. 18 The Lord knows the days of the blameless, and their heritage will remain forever; 19 they are not put to shame in evil times; in the days of famine they have abundance. 20 But the wicked will perish; the enemies of the Lord are like the glory of the pastures; they vanish—like smoke they vanish away. 21 The wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives; 22 for those blessed by the Lord* shall inherit the land, but those cursed by him shall be cut off. 23 The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; 24 though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand. 25 I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread. 26 He is ever lending generously, and his children become a blessing. 27 Turn away from evil and do good; so shall you dwell forever. 28 For the Lord loves justice; he will not forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off. 29 The righteous shall inherit the land and dwell upon it forever. 30 The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice. 31 The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip. 32 The wicked watches for the righteous and seeks to put him to death. 33 The Lord will not abandon him to his power or let him be condemned when he is brought to trial. 34 Wait for the Lord and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off. 35 I have seen a wicked, ruthless man, spreading himself like a green laurel tree.* 36 But he passed away,* and behold, he was no more; though I sought him, he could not be found. 37 Mark the blameless and behold the upright, for there is a future for the man of peace. 38 But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed; the future of the wicked shall be cut off. 39 The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble. 40 The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.
