Gebt Jahwe, ihr himmlischen Wesen, / gebt Jahwe Ehre und Macht!2Gebt Jahwe die Ehre, die ihm gebührt, / betet ihn an in heiliger Pracht.3Die Stimme Jahwes schallt über der Flut. / Der Gott der Herrlichkeit lässt Donner dröhnen, / Jahwe beherrscht das gewaltige Meer.4Die Stimme Jahwes voller Macht, / ist herrlich und furchtbar zugleich.5Die Stimme Jahwes spaltet mächtige Bäume, / Libanonzedern zersplittern vor ihm.6Der Libanon hüpft vor ihm wie ein Kalb, / wie ein junger Büffel springt der Hermon* auf.7Die Stimme Jahwes sprüht zuckende Flammen.8Die Stimme Jahwes lässt Wüsten erzittern. / Auch die Wüste von Kadesch* erbebt.9Die Stimme Jahwes wirbelt Eichen empor, / reißt ganze Wälder kahl. / Und in seinem Tempel ruft alles: „Ehre sei Gott!“10Jahwe thront über den Fluten, / er herrscht als ewiger König!11Seinem Volk verleiht er Kraft / und segnet es mit Frieden!

1Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.2Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to his name; worship the Lord in the splendour of his* holiness.3The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters.4The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.5The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.6He makes Lebanon leap like a calf, Sirion* like a young wild ox.7The voice of the Lord strikes with flashes of lightning.8The voice of the Lord shakes the desert; the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh.9The voice of the Lord twists the oaks* and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry, ‘Glory!’10The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King for ever.11The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.
