1 Canto dei pellegrinaggi. Di Davide. Signore, il mio cuore non è orgoglioso e i miei occhi non sono altèri; non aspiro a cose troppo grandi e troppo alte per me. 2 In verità l’anima mia è calma e tranquilla. Come un bimbo divezzato sul seno di sua madre, così è tranquilla in me l’anima mia. 3 O Israele, spera nel Signore, ora e per sempre.

I Have Calmed and Quieted My Soul

1 A Song of Ascents. Of David. O Lord, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. 2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me. 3 O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.
