Psalm 135 | New International Version

1 Praise the Lord.* Praise the name of the Lord; praise him, you servants of the Lord,

2 you who minister in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God.

3 Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.

4 For the Lord has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession.

5 I know that the Lord is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods.

6 The Lord does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.

7 He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.

8 He struck down the firstborn of Egypt, the firstborn of people and animals.

9 He sent his signs and wonders into your midst, Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants.

10 He struck down many nations and killed mighty kings –

11 Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kings of Canaan –

12 and he gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to his people Israel.

13 Your name, Lord, endures for ever, your renown, Lord, through all generations.

14 For the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.

15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by human hands.

16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see.

17 They have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.

18 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

19 All you Israelites, praise the Lord; house of Aaron, praise the Lord;

20 house of Levi, praise the Lord; you who fear him, praise the Lord.

21 Praise be to the Lord from Zion, to him who dwells in Jerusalem. Praise the Lord.

Hoffnung für alle

Der Herr ist mächtiger als alle Götter!

1 Halleluja – lobt den HERRN! Preist den Namen des HERRN, ja, lobt ihn, alle seine Diener,

2 die ihr in seinem Tempel steht, in den Vorhöfen beim Haus unseres Gottes!

3 Preist den HERRN, denn er ist gut; musiziert zur Ehre seines herrlichen Namens.

4 Er hat die Nachkommen Jakobs auserwählt und ganz Israel zu seinem Eigentum erklärt.

5 Ja, ich habe erkannt: Groß ist der HERR! Unser Herr ist mächtiger als alle Götter.

6 Was er will, das tut er auch – sei es im Himmel oder auf der Erde, im Meer oder in den tiefsten Tiefen.

7 Er lässt Wolken am Horizont aufsteigen, er sendet Regen und grelle Blitze, den Sturmwind holt er aus seiner Kammer und schickt ihn auf die Reise.

8 In Ägypten tötete er alle ältesten Söhne, die Erstgeborenen von Mensch und Vieh.

9 Er vollbrachte dort Zeichen und Wunder am Pharao und allen seinen Untergebenen.

10 Er besiegte viele Völker und ließ mächtige Könige umkommen:

11 Sihon, den König der Amoriter, Og, den König von Baschan, und alle Könige von Kanaan.

12 Die Länder, über die sie geherrscht hatten, übergab er Israel, sein Volk bekam das ganze Gebiet als bleibenden Besitz.

13 HERR, dein Name wird nie in Vergessenheit geraten; dich wird man rühmen, solange es Menschen gibt.

14 Du, HERR, wirst deinem Volk zum Recht verhelfen. Du erbarmst dich über alle, die dir dienen.

15 Die Götter der anderen Völker sind nur Figuren aus Silber und Gold, von Menschenhänden gemacht.

16 Sie haben einen Mund, aber reden können sie nicht; Augen haben sie, doch sie können nicht sehen.

17 Mit ihren Ohren hören sie nicht, auch können sie nicht atmen.

18 Genauso starr und tot sollen die werden, die diese Götzen schufen, und auch alle, die solchen Götzen vertrauen!

19 Ihr Israeliten, lobt den HERRN! Ihr Priester,* lobt den HERRN!

20 Ihr Leviten, lobt den HERRN! Alle, die ihr den HERRN achtet – lobt ihn!

21 Gelobt sei der HERR auf dem Berg Zion, denn dort in Jerusalem ist seine Wohnung. Lobt den HERRN – halleluja!
