1 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.* 2 Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. 3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?* 5 You have made them* a little lower than the angels* and crowned them* with glory and honour. 6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their* feet: 7 all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, 8 the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. 9 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

1 Ein Lied Davids, zu begleiten auf gatitischem Instrument. 2 HERR, unser Herrscher! Groß ist dein Ruhm auf der ganzen Erde! Deine Hoheit reicht höher als der Himmel. 3 Aus dem Lobpreis der Schwachen und Hilflosen* baust du eine Mauer, an der deine Widersacher und Feinde zu Fall kommen. 4 Ich bestaune den Himmel, das Werk deiner Hände, den Mond und alle die Sterne, die du geschaffen hast: 5 Wie klein ist da der Mensch, wie gering und unbedeutend! Und doch gibst du dich mit ihm ab und kümmerst dich um ihn! 6 Ja, du hast ihm Macht und Würde verliehen; es fehlt nicht viel und er wäre wie du. 7 Du hast ihn zum Herrscher gemacht über deine Geschöpfe, alles hast du ihm unterstellt: 8 die Schafe, Ziegen und Rinder, die Wildtiere in Feld und Wald, 9 die Vögel in der Luft und die Fische im Wasser, die kleinen und die großen, alles, was die Meere durchzieht. 10 HERR, unser Herrscher, groß ist dein Ruhm auf der ganzen Erde!
