1Es folgt eine Liste der Könige, über die die Israeliten gesiegt und deren Land sie erobert hatten. Östlich des Jordans vom Fluss Arnon bis zum Hermongebirge sowie im östlichen Teil des Jordantals waren es ´zwei Könige`:2Zunächst Sihon, der Amoriterkönig, der in Heschbon regierte. Sein Herrschaftsgebiet erstreckte sich von der Mitte des Arnontals und der Stadt Aroër an dessen Rand über die halbe Landschaft Gilead bis zum Jabbokfluss, der die Grenze zu den Ammonitern bildete.3Außerdem umfasste es das östliche Jordantal vom See Gennesaret bis hinunter an das ´Nordende des` Toten Meers, wo der Weg nach Bet-Jeschimot abzweigt, und noch etwas weiter bis zu den Abhängen des ´Berges` Pisga.4Der andere König war Og von Baschan. Er war der letzte vom Geschlecht der Rafaïter und regierte in Aschtarot und Edreï.5Sein Herrschaftsgebiet umfasste das Hermongebirge und die Landschaften Salcha und Baschan. Die ´westliche` Grenze bildete das Gebiet der Geschuriter und der Maachiter. Dazu kam die ´nördliche` Hälfte der Landschaft Gilead, die an das Gebiet König Sihons von Heschbon grenzte.6Die Israeliten hatten diese beiden Könige unter der Führung von Mose, dem Diener des HERRN, besiegt. Josua wies dieses Gebiet den israelitischen Stämmen und Sippen als Erbbesitz zu.8Es handelte sich um das Bergland ´in der Mitte`, das Hügelland ´im Westen`, die Ausläufer des Berglands und die Jordanebene ´im Osten` sowie ´im Süden` das Steppenland und die Wüste Negev – also das gesamte Gebiet der Hetiter, Amoriter, Kanaaniter, Perisiter, Hiwiter und Jebusiter.9´Dies sind die besiegten Könige westlich des Jordans`: der König von Jericho, der König von Ai in der Nähe von Bet-El,10der König von Jerusalem, der König von Hebron,11der König von Jarmut, der König von Lachisch,12der König von Eglon, der König von Geser,13der König von Debir, der König von Geder,14der König von Horma, der König von Arad,15der König von Libna, der König von Adullam,16der König von Makkeda, der König von Bet-El,17der König von Tappuach, der König von Hefer,18der König von Afek, der König von Scharon,19der König von Madon, der König von Hazor,20der König von Schimron-Meron, der König von Achschaf,21der König von Taanach, der König von Megiddo,22der König von Kedesch, der König von Jokneam am Karmel,23der König von Dor in Nafet-Dor*, der König von Gojim in Galiläa*24und der König von Tirza.
