Salomos ausländische Frauen verführen ihn zum Götzendienst
1König Salomo hatte neben der Tochter des Pharaos noch viele weitere ausländische Frauen, die er liebte: Moabiterinnen, Ammoniterinnen, Edomiterinnen, Sidonierinnen und Hetiterinnen.2Der HERR hatte den Israeliten verboten, sich mit den Angehörigen dieser Völker zu verbinden. Er hatte gesagt: »Ihr dürft euch auf keinen Fall mit ihnen einlassen und sie nicht heiraten*, sonst werden sie euch dazu verführen*, ihren Göttern zu dienen.« Trotzdem hing Salomo mit großer Liebe an seinen ausländischen Frauen.3Er hatte siebenhundert Frauen aus fürstlichem Hause und dreihundert Nebenfrauen. Sie brachten sein Herz vom HERRN ab*,4und als er alt wurde, verführten sie ihn dazu*, anderen Göttern zu dienen. Sein Herz gehörte nicht mehr ungeteilt dem HERRN, seinem Gott, wie es noch bei seinem Vater David gewesen war.5Er verehrte Astarte, die Göttin der Sidonier, und Milkom, den abscheulichen Götzen der Ammoniter.6So tat er, was dem HERRN missfiel, und folgte ihm nicht mehr von ganzem Herzen, wie sein Vater David es getan hatte.7Schließlich baute er sogar am Ölberg östlich von Jerusalem eine Opferstätte für Kemosch, den widerlichen Götzen der Moabiter, und für Moloch*, den abscheulichen Götzen der Ammoniter.8Alle seine ausländischen Frauen bekamen Opferstätten, an denen sie ihren Göttern Räucher- und Schlachtopfer darbringen konnten.9Da wurde der HERR zornig auf Salomo, weil sein Herz sich von ihm, dem Gott Israels, abgewandt hatte. Zweimal war er ihm erschienen10und hatte ihm ausdrücklich verboten, andere Götter zu verehren, doch Salomo hatte nicht auf ihn gehört.11Darum sagte der HERR zu ihm: »Du wusstest genau, was ich von dir wollte, und trotzdem hast du meinen Bund gebrochen und meine Weisungen missachtet.* Deshalb werde ich dir das Königtum entreißen und es einem der Männer geben, die für dich arbeiten.12Aber um deines Vaters David willen werde ich dies noch nicht zu deinen Lebzeiten tun, sondern werde die Herrschaft erst deinem Sohn wegnehmen.13Doch auch ihm werde ich nicht das gesamte Königtum entreißen, sondern ihm ´die Herrschaft über` einen Stamm lassen. Denn ich habe meinem Diener David ´ein ewiges Königtum` versprochen*, und Jerusalem ist die Stadt, die ich erwählt habe.«
Zwei erbitterte Feinde Salomos
14Der HERR sorgte dafür, dass Hadad, ein Mann aus der edomitischen Königsfamilie, sich gegen Salomo auflehnte.15´Der Grund für seine Feindschaft lag` in dem Krieg, den David gegen die Edomiter geführt hatte.* Damals war Joab nach Edom gezogen, um die gefallenen ´Israeliten` zu begraben, und hatte nahezu die gesamte männliche Bevölkerung Edoms ausgerottet.16Sechs Monate war er mit dem israelitischen Heer dort geblieben, bis sie auch den letzten männlichen Edomiter getötet hatten.17Hadad jedoch, der damals noch ein kleiner Junge war, konnte mit einigen Gefolgsleuten seines Vaters in Richtung Ägypten fliehen.18Sie durchquerten das Land Midian und erreichten ´die Wüste` Paran. Mit Hilfe ´ortskundiger` Männer, die sie in Paran anheuerten*, gelangten sie nach Ägypten und kamen zum Hof des Pharaos. Der Pharao wies Hadad ein Haus und ein Stück Land zu und sorgte für seinen Lebensunterhalt.19Er fand großes Gefallen an Hadad und gab ihm die Schwester seiner Gattin, der Königin Tachpenes, zur Frau.20Diese brachte einen Sohn namens Genubat zur Welt. Tachpenes ließ das Fest von Genubats Entwöhnung im königlichen Palast feiern*, und ´von da an` wurde er mit den Söhnen des Pharaos im Palast erzogen.21Als Hadad hörte, dass David gestorben und auch Israels Heerführer Joab tot war, bat er den Pharao: »Erlaube mir, in mein Land zurückzukehren.«22Der Pharao entgegnete: »Was fehlt dir denn bei mir? Warum willst du unbedingt zurück in dein Land?« »Mir fehlt nichts«, antwortete Hadad. »Aber bitte lass mich trotzdem gehen.«23Gott sorgte auch dafür, dass ´der Aramäer` Reson, der Sohn Eljadas, sich gegen Salomo auflehnte. Reson hatte einst im Dienst Hadad-Esers, des Königs von Zoba, gestanden und war vor ihm geflohen.24Nachdem David ´die Aramäer von Zoba und Damaskus besiegt und` viele von ihnen getötet hatte*, sammelte Reson Männer um sich und wurde Anführer einer Streifschar. Später ging er mit ihnen nach Damaskus*, ließ sich in der Stadt nieder und riss die Herrschaft an sich.25So wurde er König über die Aramäer. Er verabscheute die Israeliten aus tiefstem Herzen und wurde ihr erbitterter Feind. Genauso wie ´der Edomiter` Hadad fügt er ihnen während der ganzen Regierungszeit Salomos viel Schaden zu.
Jerobeam wird zu Salomos Gegenspieler
26Auch einer von Salomos Beamten erhob sich gegen den König: Jerobeam, der Sohn Nebats, ein Efraimiter aus der Stadt Zereda. Seine Mutter war eine Witwe namens Zerua.27Und so kam es zu seinem Aufstand gegen den König: Als Salomo den Millo aufschütten und die Mauern Jerusalems instand setzen ließ*,28wurde Jerobeam als junger wehrpflichtiger Bürger zu den Arbeiten herangezogen. Salomo sah, wie gut er arbeitete*, und machte ihn zum Aufseher über alle Fronarbeiter* aus den Stämmen Efraim und Manasse.29Als Jerobeam einmal während dieser Zeit Jerusalem verließ, begegnete ihm unterwegs der Prophet Ahija aus Schilo. Ahija trug einen neuen Mantel. Die beiden waren allein – weit und breit war niemand, der sie beobachten konnte.*30Da nahm Ahija seinen neuen Mantel, zerriss ihn in zwölf Teile31und sagte zu Jerobeam: »Nimm dir zehn Stücke! Denn so spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: ›Ich werde Salomo das Königtum entreißen und dir ´die Herrschaft` über zehn Stämme geben.32Nur den Stamm Juda lasse ich ihm.* Denn ich habe meinem Diener David ´ein ewiges Königtum` versprochen und Jerusalem ist die Stadt, die ich erwählt habe.33So strafe ich Salomo und die Israeliten* dafür, dass sie mich verlassen haben und ´andere Götter` anbeten: Astarte, die Göttin der Sidonier, Kemosch, den Gott der Moabiter, und Milkom, den Gott der Ammoniter. Sie führen ihr Leben nicht so, wie es mir gefällt. Sie haben nicht getan, was in meinen Augen recht ist. Anders als Salomos Vater David haben sie meine Rechtsbestimmungen und Ordnungen missachtet.34Allerdings werde ich Salomo das Königtum nicht vollständig wegnehmen. Um meines Dieners David willen, den ich erwählt habe und der meine Gebote und Ordnungen gehalten hat, lasse ich Salomo weiter regieren, solange er lebt.35Erst seinem Sohn nehme ich das Königtum weg. Dann werde ich dir ´die Herrschaft über` die zehn Stämme anvertrauen.36Salomos Sohn behält einen Stamm, damit das Licht meines Dieners David* für immer in Jerusalem leuchtet – in der Stadt, die ich mir als Wohnstätte erwählt habe*.37Dich aber mache ich zum König, wie du es dir gewünscht hast.* Du sollst über Israel regieren.38Wenn du auf alles hörst, was ich dir gebiete, wenn du dein Leben nach meinem Willen führst, wenn du tust, was in meinen Augen recht ist, und meine Ordnungen und Gebote hältst, wie mein Diener David es getan hat, dann werde ich dir beistehen. Du und deine Nachkommen werden für immer auf dem Thron sitzen*, wie ich es auch David versprochen habe. Die Herrschaft über ´die zehn Stämme` Israels wird dir gehören.39So werde ich die Nachkommen Davids dafür bestrafen, dass sie mir untreu geworden sind* – allerdings nicht für immer.‹«40Salomo wollte Jerobeam umbringen lassen, doch Jerobeam entkam und floh zu Pharao Schischak nach Ägypten. Dort blieb er, bis Salomo gestorben war.
Salomos Tod
41Alles, was es sonst noch über Salomo zu berichten gibt, über seine Taten und seine Weisheit, ist in der amtlichen Chronik Salomos festgehalten.42Vierzig Jahre lang regierte er in Jerusalem über ganz Israel.43Als er starb, wurde er dort in Jerusalem, der Stadt seines Vaters David, beigesetzt*. Sein Sohn Rehabeam folgte ihm auf den Königsthron.

And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.23And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:24And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Zobah : and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.25And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did : and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.26And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon' servant, whose mother' name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.27And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.28And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.29And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:30And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:31And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:32(But he shall have one tribe for my servant David' sake, and for Jerusalem' sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)33Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.34Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant' sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:35But I will take the kingdom out of his son' hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.36And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.37And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.38And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.39And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.40Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam.
