1En aquel día el SEÑOR tomará su tremenda y veloz espada y castigará al Leviatán, rauda serpiente, serpiente tortuosa, dragón marino.2En aquel día de la liberación de Israel entónese este himno:3«Israel es mi viña y yo, el SEÑOR, cuidaré las viñas fructíferas. Cada día las regaré y las vigilaré día y noche para mantener alejados a todos los enemigos.4Mi ira contra Israel ya terminó. Si hallo que la acosan zarzas y espinas, las quemaré, a menos que estos enemigos tuyos se rindan y supliquen mi paz y mi protección.6Vendrá el tiempo en que Israel echará raíces, retoñará y florecerá llenando toda la tierra con sus frutos».7¿Ha castigado Dios a Israel tanto como a los enemigos de este? No, pues ha devastado a sus enemigos en tanto que a Israel lo ha castigado sólo levemente, exiliándolo a tierras lejanas como arrastrado por tormenta del oriente.9Y ¿por qué lo hizo Dios? Fue para limpiarlo de sus pecados, y librarlo de todos sus ídolos y de los altares para estos. Ahora jamás volverán a ser adorados.10Tus ciudades amuralladas quedarán silenciosas y vacías, abandonadas las casas, invadidas las calles por malas hierbas, y las vacas pacerán por la ciudad rumiando ramas y arbustos.11Mi pueblo es como secas ramas de árbol, quebradas y puestas como leña debajo de las ollas. Son una nación necia, un pueblo fatuo e insensato, puesto que se aparta de Dios. Por lo tanto, no se apiadará de sus habitantes el que los hizo, ni les mostrará misericordia.12Pero vendrá el tiempo en que uno por uno los recogerá el SEÑOR como quien escoge granos con la mano, seleccionándolos de aquí y de allá de entre su gran era que se extiende desde el río Éufrates hasta los límites de Egipto.13En aquel día sonará la gran trompeta y muchos que estaban para morir entre sus enemigos, asirios y egipcios, serán librados y llevados a Jerusalén para que adoren al SEÑOR en su santo monte.

The Redemption of Israel
1In that day the Lord with his hard and great and strong sword will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan the twisting serpent, and he will slay the dragon that is in the sea.2In that day, “A pleasant vineyard,* sing of it!3I, the Lord, am its keeper; every moment I water it. Lest anyone punish it, I keep it night and day;4I have no wrath. Would that I had thorns and briers to battle! I would march against them, I would burn them up together.5Or let them lay hold of my protection, let them make peace with me, let them make peace with me.”6In days to come* Jacob shall take root, Israel shall blossom and put forth shoots and fill the whole world with fruit.7Has he struck them as he struck those who struck them? Or have they been slain as their slayers were slain?8Measure by measure,* by exile you contended with them; he removed them with his fierce breath* in the day of the east wind.9Therefore by this the guilt of Jacob will be atoned for, and this will be the full fruit of the removal of his sin:* when he makes all the stones of the altars like chalkstones crushed to pieces, no Asherim or incense altars will remain standing.10For the fortified city is solitary, a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness; there the calf grazes; there it lies down and strips its branches.11When its boughs are dry, they are broken; women come and make a fire of them. For this is a people without discernment; therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them; he who formed them will show them no favor.12In that day from the river Euphrates* to the Brook of Egypt the Lord will thresh out the grain, and you will be gleaned one by one, O people of Israel.13And in that day a great trumpet will be blown, and those who were lost in the land of Assyria and those who were driven out to the land of Egypt will come and worship the Lord on the holy mountain at Jerusalem.
