Plena confianza en Cristo

1 Por lo demás, hermanos míos, alégrense en el Señor. A mí no me molesta volver a escribirles lo mismo, y a ustedes les da seguridad. 2 Cuídense de esos perros, cuídense de esos malos obreros, cuídense de esos que mutilan el cuerpo. 3 Porque los verdaderos circuncidados somos nosotros, los que por medio del Espíritu adoramos a Dios y nos llenamos de orgullo de pertenecer a Cristo Jesús. Nosotros no ponemos nuestra confianza en esfuerzos humanos. 4 Yo mismo tengo motivos para confiar en mis propios esfuerzos. Si alguien cree que tiene motivos para confiar en esfuerzos humanos, yo tengo más: 5 me circuncidaron al octavo día, pertenezco al pueblo de Israel y a la tribu de Benjamín, soy hebreo entre los hebreos; en cuanto al cumplimiento de la ley, fui fariseo; 6 en cuanto al celo por cumplir la ley, fui perseguidor de la iglesia; en cuanto a la justicia que la ley exige, fui intachable. 7 Pero todo aquello que para mí era valioso, ahora lo considero sin valor por causa de Cristo. 8 Es más, todo lo considero una pérdida comparado con el supremo valor de conocer a Cristo Jesús, mi Señor. Por él lo he perdido todo y lo considero basura, con tal de ganar a Cristo 9 y encontrarme unido a él. No quiero la justicia propia que viene de obedecer la ley, sino la que se obtiene por la fe en Cristo. Esa es la justicia que viene de Dios y está basada en la fe. 10 Lo he perdido todo con tal de conocer a Cristo, de experimentar el poder de su resurrección, de tener parte en sus sufrimientos y de llegar a ser semejante a él en su muerte. 11 Así espero llegar a resucitar de entre los muertos.

Ciudadanos del cielo

12 No quiere decir que yo ya lo haya conseguido todo, ni que ya sea perfecto; pero sigo adelante trabajando para poder alcanzar aquello para lo que Cristo Jesús me salvó a mí. 13 Hermanos, no pienso que yo ya lo haya alcanzado. Más bien, sigo adelante trabajando, me olvido de lo que quedó atrás y me esfuerzo por alcanzar lo que está adelante. 14 De esta manera sigo adelante hacia la meta, para ganar el premio que Dios ofrece por medio de su llamado celestial en Cristo Jesús. 15 Así que, ¡atentos todos los que hemos alcanzado madurez! Todos debemos pensar de esta manera. Y si algunos piensan de forma diferente en algo, Dios les hará ver esto también. 16 Debemos vivir de acuerdo con lo que ya hemos alcanzado. 17 Hermanos, sigan todos mi ejemplo y fíjense en los que siguen el ejemplo que les hemos dado. 18 Ya se los he dicho muchas veces, y ahora se los vuelvo a decir con lágrimas, que muchos se comportan como enemigos de la cruz de Cristo. 19 El futuro de ellos es la destrucción, porque su dios es su propio apetito y están orgullosos de lo que debería darles vergüenza. Sólo piensan en las cosas de este mundo. 20 En cambio, nosotros somos ciudadanos del cielo y de allí esperamos al Salvador, el Señor Jesucristo. 21 Él transformará nuestro cuerpo miserable para que sea como su cuerpo glorioso. Esto lo hará por medio del poder con el que domina todas las cosas.

Righteousness Through Faith in Christ

1 Finally, my brothers,* rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you is no trouble to me and is safe for you. 2 Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. 3 For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God* and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh— 4 though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh also. If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; 6 as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law,* blameless. 7 But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— 10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.

Straining Toward the Goal

12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. 16 Only let us hold true to what we have attained. 17 Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. 18 For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
