1Ein Wallfahrtslied (oder Stufenlied? vgl. Ps 120). Als der HERR einst Zions Mißgeschick wandte, da war’s uns, als träumten wir.2Damals war unser Mund voll Lachens und unsre Zunge voll Jubels; damals sagte man unter den Heiden: »Der HERR hat Großes an ihnen getan!«3Ja, Großes hatte der HERR an uns getan: wie waren wir fröhlich!4Wende, o HERR, unser Mißgeschick gleich den Bächen im Mittagsland!5Die mit Tränen säen, werden mit Jubel ernten.6Wohl schreitet man weinend dahin, wenn man trägt den Samen zur Aussaat; doch jubelnd kehrt man heim, mit Garben beladen.

And we are filled with joy.4LORD, bless us with great success again, as rain makes streams flow in the Negev Desert.5Those who cry as they plant their crops will sing with joy when they gather them in.6Those who go out weeping as they carry seeds to plant will come back singing with joy.
