Die Heilung am Sabbat

1 Und er ging abermals in die Synagoge. Und es war da ein Mensch, der hatte eine verdorrte Hand. 2 Und sie gaben acht, ob er ihn am Sabbat heilen würde, damit sie ihn verklagen könnten. 3 Und er sprach zu dem Menschen mit der verdorrten Hand: Steh auf und tritt in die Mitte! 4 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Was ist am Sabbat erlaubt: Gutes tun oder Böses tun, Leben retten oder töten? Sie aber schwiegen still. 5 Und er sah sie ringsum an mit Zorn, betrübt über ihr erstarrtes Herz, und sprach zu dem Menschen: Strecke deine Hand aus! Und er streckte sie aus; und seine Hand wurde wieder gesund. 6 Und die Pharisäer gingen hinaus und hielten alsbald Rat über ihn mit den Anhängern des Herodes, dass sie ihn umbrächten.

Andrang des Volkes und viele Heilungen

7 Aber Jesus entwich mit seinen Jüngern an das Meer, und eine große Menge aus Galiläa folgte ihm; auch aus Judäa 8 und Jerusalem, aus Idumäa und von jenseits des Jordans und aus der Umgebung von Tyrus und Sidon kam eine große Menge zu ihm, da sie von seinen Taten hörten. 9 Und er sagte zu seinen Jüngern, sie sollten ihm ein Boot bereithalten, damit das Volk ihn nicht bedränge. 10 Denn er heilte viele, sodass sie über ihn herfielen, damit ihn anrührten alle, die geplagt waren. 11 Und wenn ihn die unreinen Geister sahen, fielen sie vor ihm nieder und schrien: Du bist Gottes Sohn! 12 Und er bedrohte sie hart, dass sie ihn nicht offenbar machten.

Die Berufung der Zwölf

13 Und er ging auf einen Berg und rief zu sich, welche er wollte, und die gingen hin zu ihm. 14 Und er setzte zwölf ein, die er auch Apostel nannte, dass sie bei ihm sein sollten und dass er sie aussendete zu predigen 15 und dass sie Vollmacht hätten, die Dämonen auszutreiben. 16 Und er setzte die Zwölf ein: Simon – ihm gab er den Namen Petrus – 17 und Jakobus, den Sohn des Zebedäus, und Johannes, den Bruder des Jakobus – ihnen gab er den Namen Boanerges, das heißt: Donnersöhne – 18 und Andreas und Philippus und Bartholomäus und Matthäus und Thomas und Jakobus, den Sohn des Alphäus, und Thaddäus und Simon Kananäus 19 und Judas Iskariot, der ihn dann verriet.

Jesus und seine Verwandten

20 Und er ging in ein Haus. Und da kam abermals das Volk zusammen, sodass sie nicht einmal essen konnten. 21 Und als es die Seinen hörten, machten sie sich auf und wollten ihn ergreifen; denn sie sprachen: Er ist von Sinnen.

Jesus und die Dämonen

22 Die Schriftgelehrten aber, die von Jerusalem herabgekommen waren, sprachen: Er hat den Beelzebul, und: Durch den Obersten der Dämonen treibt er die Dämonen aus. 23 Und er rief sie zu sich und sprach zu ihnen in Gleichnissen: Wie kann der Satan den Satan austreiben? 24 Wenn ein Reich mit sich selbst uneins wird, kann es nicht bestehen. 25 Und wenn ein Haus mit sich selbst uneins wird, kann es nicht bestehen. 26 Erhebt sich nun der Satan gegen sich selbst und ist mit sich selbst uneins, so kann er nicht bestehen, sondern es ist aus mit ihm. 27 Niemand aber kann in das Haus des Starken eindringen und seinen Hausrat rauben, wenn er nicht zuvor den Starken fesselt; und dann wird er sein Haus ausrauben. 28 Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Alles wird den Menschenkindern vergeben werden, die Sünden und die Lästerungen, so viel sie auch lästern mögen; 29 wer aber den Heiligen Geist lästert, der hat keine Vergebung in Ewigkeit, sondern ist ewiger Sünde schuldig. 30 Denn sie hatten gesagt: Er hat einen unreinen Geist.

31 Und es kamen seine Mutter und seine Brüder und standen draußen, schickten zu ihm und ließen ihn rufen. 32 Und das Volk saß um ihn. Und sie sprachen zu ihm: Siehe, deine Mutter und deine Brüder und deine Schwestern draußen fragen nach dir. 33 Und er antwortete ihnen und sprach: Wer ist meine Mutter und meine Brüder? 34 Und er sah ringsum auf die, die um ihn im Kreise saßen, und sprach: Siehe, das ist meine Mutter und das sind meine Brüder! 35 Denn wer Gottes Willen tut, der ist mein Bruder und meine Schwester und meine Mutter.

Jesus heals on the Sabbath day

1 Another time Jesus went into the synagogue. A man with a weak and twisted hand was there. 2 Some Pharisees were trying to find fault with Jesus. They watched him closely. They wanted to see if he would heal the man on the Sabbath day. 3 Jesus spoke to the man with the weak and twisted hand. ‘Stand up in front of everyone,’ he said. 4 Then Jesus asked them, ‘What does the Law say we should do on the Sabbath day? Should we do good? Or should we do evil? Should we save life? Or should we kill?’ But no one answered. 5 Jesus looked around at them in anger. He was very upset because their hearts were stubborn. Then he said to the man, ‘Stretch out your hand.’ He stretched it out, and his hand had become as good as new. 6 Then the Pharisees went out and began to make plans with the Herodians. They wanted to kill Jesus.

Crowds follow Jesus

7 Jesus went off to the Sea of Galilee with his disciples. A large crowd from Galilee followed. 8 People heard about all that Jesus was doing. And many came to him. They came from Judea, Jerusalem and Idumea. They came from the lands east of the River Jordan. And they came from the area around Tyre and Sidon. 9 Because of the crowd, Jesus told his disciples to get a small boat ready for him. This would keep the people from crowding him. 10 Jesus had healed many people. So those who were ill were pushing forward to touch him. 11 When people controlled by evil spirits saw him, they fell down in front of him. The spirits shouted, ‘You are the Son of God!’ 12 But Jesus ordered them not to tell people about him.

Jesus appoints the 12 disciples

13 Jesus went up on a mountainside. He called for certain people to come to him, and they came. 14 He appointed 12 of them so that they would be with him. He would also send them out to preach. 15 And he gave them authority to drive out demons. 16 So Jesus appointed the 12 disciples. Simon was one of them. Jesus gave him the name Peter. 17 There were James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John. Jesus gave them the name Boanerges. Boanerges means Sons of Thunder. 18 There were also Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, and James, son of Alphaeus. And there were Thaddaeus and Simon the Zealot. 19 Judas Iscariot was one of them too. He was the one who was later going to hand Jesus over to his enemies.

Jesus is accused by teachers of the law

20 Jesus entered a house. Again a crowd gathered. It was so large that Jesus and his disciples were not even able to eat. 21 His family heard about this. So they went to take charge of him. They said, ‘He is out of his mind.’ 22 Some teachers of the law were there. They had come down from Jerusalem. They said, ‘He is controlled by Beelzebul! He is driving out demons by the power of the prince of demons.’ 23 So Jesus called them over to him. He began to speak to them using stories. He said, ‘How can Satan drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom fights against itself, it can’t stand. 25 If a family is divided, it can’t stand. 26 And if Satan fights against himself, and his helpers are divided, he can’t stand. That is the end of him. 27 In fact, none of you can enter a strong man’s house unless you tie him up first. Then you can steal things from his house. 28 What I’m about to tell you is true. Everyone’s sins and evil words against God will be forgiven. 29 But whoever speaks evil things against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. Their guilt will last for ever.’ 30 Jesus said this because the teachers of the law were saying, ‘He has an evil spirit.’

Jesus’ mother and brothers

31 Jesus’ mother and brothers came and stood outside. They sent someone in to get him. 32 A crowd was sitting around Jesus. They told him, ‘Your mother and your brothers are outside. They are looking for you.’ 33 ‘Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?’ he asked. 34 Then Jesus looked at the people sitting in a circle around him. He said, ‘Here is my mother! Here are my brothers! 35 Anyone who does what God wants is my brother or sister or mother.’
