Jesu Auferstehung

1 Aber am ersten Tag der Woche sehr früh kamen sie zum Grab und trugen bei sich die wohlriechenden Öle, die sie bereitet hatten. 2 Sie fanden aber den Stein weggewälzt von dem Grab 3 und gingen hinein und fanden den Leib des Herrn Jesus nicht. 4 Und als sie darüber ratlos waren, siehe, da traten zu ihnen zwei Männer in glänzenden Kleidern. 5 Sie aber erschraken und neigten ihr Angesicht zur Erde. Da sprachen die zu ihnen: Was sucht ihr den Lebenden bei den Toten? 6 Er ist nicht hier, er ist auferstanden. Gedenkt daran, wie er euch gesagt hat, als er noch in Galiläa war 7 und sprach: Der Menschensohn muss überantwortet werden in die Hände der Sünder und gekreuzigt werden und am dritten Tage auferstehen. 8 Und sie gedachten an seine Worte. 9 Und sie gingen wieder weg vom Grab und verkündigten das alles den Elf und allen andern Jüngern. 10 Es waren aber Maria Magdalena und Johanna und Maria, des Jakobus Mutter, und die andern Frauen mit ihnen; die sagten das den Aposteln. 11 Und es erschienen ihnen diese Worte, als wär’s Geschwätz, und sie glaubten ihnen nicht. 12 Petrus aber stand auf und lief zum Grab und bückte sich hinein und sah nur die Leinentücher und ging davon und wunderte sich über das, was geschehen war.

Die Emmausjünger

13 Und siehe, zwei von ihnen gingen an demselben Tage in ein Dorf, das war von Jerusalem etwa sechzig Stadien entfernt; dessen Name ist Emmaus. 14 Und sie redeten miteinander von allen diesen Geschichten. 15 Und es geschah, als sie so redeten und einander fragten, da nahte sich Jesus selbst und ging mit ihnen. 16 Aber ihre Augen wurden gehalten, dass sie ihn nicht erkannten. 17 Er sprach aber zu ihnen: Was sind das für Dinge, die ihr miteinander verhandelt unterwegs? Da blieben sie traurig stehen. 18 Und der eine, mit Namen Kleopas, antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Bist du der Einzige unter den Fremden in Jerusalem, der nicht weiß, was in diesen Tagen dort geschehen ist? 19 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Was denn? Sie aber sprachen zu ihm: Das mit Jesus von Nazareth, der ein Prophet war, mächtig in Tat und Wort vor Gott und allem Volk; 20 wie ihn unsre Hohenpriester und Oberen zur Todesstrafe überantwortet und gekreuzigt haben. 21 Wir aber hofften, er sei es, der Israel erlösen werde. Und über das alles ist heute der dritte Tag, dass dies geschehen ist. 22 Auch haben uns erschreckt einige Frauen aus unserer Mitte, die sind früh bei dem Grab gewesen, 23 haben seinen Leib nicht gefunden, kommen und sagen, sie haben eine Erscheinung von Engeln gesehen, die sagen, er lebe. 24 Und einige von denen, die mit uns waren, gingen hin zum Grab und fanden’s so, wie die Frauen sagten; aber ihn sahen sie nicht. 25 Und er sprach zu ihnen: O ihr Toren, zu trägen Herzens, all dem zu glauben, was die Propheten geredet haben! 26 Musste nicht der Christus dies erleiden und in seine Herrlichkeit eingehen? 27 Und er fing an bei Mose und allen Propheten und legte ihnen aus, was in allen Schriften von ihm gesagt war. 28 Und sie kamen nahe an das Dorf, wo sie hingingen. Und er stellte sich, als wollte er weitergehen. 29 Und sie nötigten ihn und sprachen: Bleibe bei uns; denn es will Abend werden, und der Tag hat sich geneigt. Und er ging hinein, bei ihnen zu bleiben. 30 Und es geschah, als er mit ihnen zu Tisch saß, nahm er das Brot, dankte, brach’s und gab’s ihnen. 31 Da wurden ihre Augen geöffnet, und sie erkannten ihn. Und er verschwand vor ihnen. 32 Und sie sprachen untereinander: Brannte nicht unser Herz in uns, da er mit uns redete auf dem Wege und uns die Schrift öffnete? 33 Und sie standen auf zu derselben Stunde, kehrten zurück nach Jerusalem und fanden die Elf versammelt und die bei ihnen waren; 34 die sprachen: Der Herr ist wahrhaftig auferstanden und dem Simon erschienen. 35 Und sie erzählten ihnen, was auf dem Wege geschehen war und wie er von ihnen erkannt wurde, da er das Brot brach.

Jesu Erscheinung vor den Jüngern

36 Als sie aber davon redeten, trat er selbst mitten unter sie und sprach zu ihnen: Friede sei mit euch! 37 Sie erschraken aber und fürchteten sich und meinten, sie sähen einen Geist. 38 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Was seid ihr so erschrocken, und warum kommen solche Gedanken in euer Herz? 39 Seht meine Hände und meine Füße, ich bin’s selber. Fasst mich an und seht; denn ein Geist hat nicht Fleisch und Knochen, wie ihr seht, dass ich sie habe. 40 Und als er das gesagt hatte, zeigte er ihnen seine Hände und Füße. 41 Da sie es aber noch nicht glauben konnten vor Freude und sich verwunderten, sprach er zu ihnen: Habt ihr hier etwas zu essen? 42 Und sie legten ihm ein Stück gebratenen Fisch vor. 43 Und er nahm’s und aß vor ihnen. 44 Er sprach aber zu ihnen: Das sind meine Worte, die ich zu euch gesagt habe, als ich noch bei euch war: Es muss alles erfüllt werden, was von mir geschrieben steht im Gesetz des Mose und in den Propheten und Psalmen. 45 Da öffnete er ihnen das Verständnis, dass sie die Schrift verstanden, 46 und sprach zu ihnen: So steht’s geschrieben, dass der Christus leiden wird und auferstehen von den Toten am dritten Tage; 47 und dass gepredigt wird in seinem Namen Buße zur Vergebung der Sünden unter allen Völkern. Von Jerusalem an 48 seid ihr dafür Zeugen. 49 Und siehe, ich sende auf euch, was mein Vater verheißen hat. Ihr aber sollt in der Stadt bleiben, bis ihr angetan werdet mit Kraft aus der Höhe.

Jesu Himmelfahrt

50 Er führte sie aber hinaus bis nach Betanien und hob die Hände auf und segnete sie. 51 Und es geschah, als er sie segnete, schied er von ihnen und fuhr auf gen Himmel. 52 Sie aber beteten ihn an und kehrten zurück nach Jerusalem mit großer Freude 53 und waren allezeit im Tempel und priesen Gott.

Jesus rises from the dead

1 It was very early in the morning on the first day of the week. The women took the spices they had prepared. Then they went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from it. 3 When they entered the tomb, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 They were wondering about this. Suddenly two men in clothes as bright as lightning stood beside them. 5 The women were terrified. They bowed down with their faces to the ground. Then the men said to them, ‘Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 Jesus is not here! He has risen! Remember how he told you he would rise. It was while he was still with you in Galilee. 7 He said, “The Son of Man must be handed over to sinful people. He must be nailed to a cross. On the third day he will rise from the dead.” ’ 8 Then the women remembered Jesus’ words. 9 They came back from the tomb. They told all these things to the 11 apostles and to all the others. 10 Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them were the ones who told the apostles. 11 But the apostles did not believe the women. Their words didn’t make any sense to them. 12 But Peter got up and ran to the tomb. He bent over and saw the strips of linen lying by themselves. Then he went away, wondering what had happened.

On the road to Emmaus

13 That same day two of Jesus’ followers were going to a village called Emmaus. It was about 7 miles from Jerusalem. 14 They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15 As they talked about those things, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them. 16 But God kept them from recognising him. 17 Jesus asked them, ‘What are you talking about as you walk along?’ They stood still, and their faces were sad. 18 One of them was named Cleopas. He said to Jesus, ‘Are you the only person visiting Jerusalem who doesn’t know? Don’t you know about the things that have happened there in the last few days?’ 19 ‘What things?’ Jesus asked. ‘About Jesus of Nazareth,’ they replied. ‘He was a prophet. He was powerful in what he said and did in the sight of God and all the people. 20 The chief priests and our rulers handed Jesus over to be sentenced to death. They nailed him to a cross. 21 But we had hoped that he was the one who was going to set Israel free. Also, it is the third day since all this happened. 22 Some of our women amazed us too. Early this morning they went to the tomb. 23 But they didn’t find his body. So they came and told us what they had seen. They saw angels, who said Jesus was alive. 24 Then some of our friends went to the tomb. They saw it was empty, just as the women had said. They didn’t see Jesus’ body there.’ 25 Jesus said to them, ‘How foolish you are! How long it takes you to believe all that the prophets said! 26 Didn’t the Messiah have to suffer these things and then receive his glory?’ 27 Jesus explained to them what was said about himself in all the Scriptures. He began with Moses and all the Prophets. 28 They approached the village where they were going. Jesus kept walking as if he were going further. 29 But they tried hard to keep him from leaving. They said, ‘Stay with us. It is nearly evening. The day is almost over.’ So he went in to stay with them. 30 He joined them at the table. Then he took bread and gave thanks. He broke it and began to give it to them. 31 Their eyes were opened, and they recognised him. But then he disappeared from their sight. 32 They said to each other, ‘He explained to us what the Scriptures meant. Weren’t we excited as he talked with us on the road?’ 33 They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the 11 disciples and those with them. They were all gathered together. 34 They were saying, ‘It’s true! The Lord has risen! He has appeared to Simon!’ 35 Then the two of them told what had happened to them on the way. They told how they had recognised Jesus when he broke the bread.

Jesus appears to the disciples

36 The disciples were still talking about this when Jesus himself suddenly stood among them. He said, ‘May you have peace!’ 37 They were surprised and terrified. They thought they were seeing a ghost. 38 Jesus said to them, ‘Why are you troubled? Why do you have doubts in your minds? 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It’s really me! Touch me and see. A ghost does not have a body or bones. But you can see that I do.’ 40 After he said that, he showed them his hands and feet. 41 But they still did not believe it. They were amazed and filled with joy. So Jesus asked them, ‘Do you have anything here to eat?’ 42 They gave him a piece of cooked fish. 43 He took it and ate it in front of them. 44 Jesus said to them, ‘This is what I told you while I was still with you. Everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms must come true.’ 45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, ‘This is what is written. The Messiah will suffer. He will rise from the dead on the third day. 47 His followers will preach in his name. They will tell others to turn away from their sins and be forgiven. People from every nation will hear it, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You have seen these things with your own eyes. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised. But for now, stay in the city. Stay there until you have received power from heaven.’

Jesus is taken up into heaven

50 Jesus led his disciples out to the area near Bethany. Then he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he left them. He was taken up into heaven. 52 Then they worshipped him. With great joy, they returned to Jerusalem. 53 Every day they went to the temple, praising God.
