Psalm 123 | King James Version
1A Song of degrees. Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.2Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.3Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.4Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
New International Reader’s Version
A song for those who go up to Jerusalem to worship the Lord.
1I look up and pray to you. Your throne is in heaven.2Slaves depend on their masters. A female slave depends on the woman she works for. In the same way, we depend on the LORD our God. We wait for him to have mercy on us.3LORD, have mercy on us. Have mercy on us, because people haven’t stopped making fun of us.4We have had to put up with a lot from those who are proud. They were always laughing at us.
