1 A Song of degrees. In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me. 2 Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. 3 What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue? 4 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper. 5 Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar! 6 My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace. 7 I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.

1 Ein Wallfahrtslied (oder Stufenlied?). Ich rief zum HERRN in meiner Not: da erhörte er mich. 2 O HERR, errette mich von der Lügenlippe, von der trügerischen Zunge! 3 Was wird Er dir jetzt und in Zukunft bescheren, du trügerische Zunge? 4 Geschärfte Kriegerpfeile samt Kohlen vom Ginsterstrauch! 5 Wehe mir, daß ich als Fremdling in Mesech weile, daß ich wohne bei den Zelten von Kedar! 6 Lange genug schon weile ich hier bei Leuten, die den Frieden hassen. 7 Ich bin ganz friedlich gestimmt, doch was ich auch rede: sie gehen auf Krieg* aus.
