1Als David den Gipfel des Ölbergs verlassen hatte und seinen Weg fortsetzen wollte, kam ihm Ziba, der Diener von Sauls Enkel Mefi-Boschet, entgegen. Er führte zwei gesattelte Esel mit sich, denen er zweihundert Brote, hundert Rosinenkuchen, hundert frische Früchte und einen Weinschlauch aufgeladen hatte.2»Was hast du damit vor?«, wollte der König wissen. Ziba antwortete: »Die Esel sind als Reittiere für deine Familie gedacht, das Brot und das Obst für deine Leute und der Wein zur Stärkung für alle, die auf dem Weg durch die Wüste müde werden.«3»Und wo ist Mefi-Boschet, der Enkel deines früheren Herrn?«, fragte der König. Ziba antwortete: »Der wollte in Jerusalem bleiben. Er hat behauptet, dass die Israeliten ihm heute das Königreich seines Großvaters Saul zurückgeben werden.«4Da erwiderte David: »Ab sofort gehört dir, Ziba, der ganze Besitz von Mefi-Boschet!« Ziba sagte: »Ich bin dir ergeben, mein Herr und König! Für mich zählt nur eines: dass du mir deine Gunst schenkst.«
Schimi beschimpft David
5Als König David nach Bahurim kam, lief ihm ein Mann aus dem Ort entgegen und beschimpfte ihn. Es war Schimi, ein Sohn von Gera, der mit Saul verwandt war.6Schimi ließ sich von der Leibwache und den Elitesoldaten, die den König umgaben, nicht abschrecken und warf mit Steinen nach David und seinem Gefolge.7Dabei fluchte er und schrie: »Verschwinde, du Verbrecher, du Mörder!8Ja, du bist schuld daran, dass Saul und seine Familie umgekommen sind, du hast die Herrschaft einfach an dich gerissen! Jetzt aber straft dich der HERR für das unschuldig vergossene Blut: Er hat deinen Sohn Absalom an deiner Stelle zum König gemacht und dich ins Unglück gestürzt. Etwas Besseres hast du auch nicht verdient, du Mörder!«9Da sagte Abischai, der Sohn von Davids Schwester Zeruja, zum König: »Wie kommt dieser Nichtsnutz dazu, dich so zu beschimpfen? Lass mich hingehen und ihm den Kopf abschlagen!«10Doch David bremste ihn: »Wie oft muss ich es dir und deinem Bruder Joab noch sagen: Ich halte nichts von euren Racheakten! Soll dieser Schimi mich doch beschimpfen! Wenn der HERR es ihm befohlen hat – können wir es ihm dann verbieten?«11Nun wandte David sich an seine Soldaten, die um ihn standen: »Wenn schon mein eigener Sohn mir nach dem Leben trachtet, dann ist es doch von diesem Verwandten Sauls erst recht zu erwarten! Lasst ihn nur schimpfen und fluchen! Bestimmt hat der HERR es ihm befohlen.12Doch ich hoffe, dass der HERR mich nicht alleinlässt in meinem Elend. Vielleicht verwandelt er Schimis Flüche in Segen.«13David und seine Leute setzten ihren Weg fort. Schimi lief ihnen am Berghang entlang nach, fluchte und warf mit Steinen und Erdklumpen nach dem König.14Erschöpft erreichten sie schließlich den Jordan und ruhten sich dort aus.
Absalom in Jerusalem
15Inzwischen waren Absalom und seine Anhänger in Jerusalem eingezogen. Auch Ahitofel hatte sich ihnen angeschlossen.16Bald darauf kam Davids Freund und Berater Huschai zu Absalom und rief ihm zu: »Hoch lebe der König! Hoch lebe der König!«17Da spottete Absalom: »Und so einer nennt sich Freund des Königs! Ist deine Liebe zu ihm schon erloschen? Warum bist du nicht mit deinem Freund gegangen?«18Huschai antwortete: »Ich stehe zu dem König, den der HERR und sein Volk auserwählt haben! Der und kein anderer ist mein Herr!19Außerdem bist du doch Davids Sohn. Ich werde dir ergeben sein, so wie ich deinem Vater treu ergeben war.«20Danach wandte Absalom sich an Ahitofel und fragte: »Was sollen wir nun weiter unternehmen? Gib mir einen Rat!«21Ahitofel erwiderte: »Dein Vater hat doch einige Nebenfrauen hiergelassen, damit der Palast nicht unbeaufsichtigt bleibt. Hol sie dir und schlaf mit ihnen! Dann sieht ganz Israel, dass du dich bei deinem Vater verhasst gemacht hast, und deine Anhänger werden noch entschlossener zu dir halten.«22Da schlug man auf dem Dach des Palasts für Absalom ein Zelt auf. Ganz Israel wurde Zeuge, als er mit den Nebenfrauen seines Vaters dort hineinging, um mit ihnen zu schlafen.23Damals wurden Ahitofels Ratschläge bereitwillig befolgt, als kämen sie von Gott. So war es schon bei David gewesen, und daran änderte sich auch bei Absalom nichts.

1And when David was a little past the top of the hill , behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and an hundred bunches of raisins, and an hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.2And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses be for the king' household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink.3And the king said, And where is thy master' son? Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so?11And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it ? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him.12It may be that the LORD will look on mine affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day.13And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill' side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.14And the king, and all the people that were with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.15And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.16And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David' friend, was come unto Absalom, that Hushai said unto Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.17And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?18And Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.19And again, whom should I serve? should I not serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father' presence, so will I be in thy presence.20Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.21And Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Go in unto thy father' concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong.22So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father' concubines in the sight of all Israel.23And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
