Psalm 33 | Het Boek

1 Zing een loflied voor de HERE, allen die met God leven! Het is goed als Gods kinderen Hem loven. 2 Zing een loflied voor de HERE met de citer, zing een psalm met de tiensnarige harp. 3 Zing een nieuw lied voor de HERE, begeleid door prachtig snarenspel. 4 Want het woord van de HERE is betrouwbaar en uit al zijn daden blijkt zijn trouw. 5 God houdt van oprechtheid en eerlijkheid. De aarde loopt over van de goedheid en liefde van de HERE. 6 De hemelen werden door het woord van de HERE gemaakt, alles wat erin is, ontstond door zijn adem. 7 Hij brengt het water in de zeeën bijeen en slaat al het water op in zijn schatkamers. 8 Laat de hele aarde ontzag hebben voor de HERE, alle bewoners van de aarde moeten met eerbied voor Hem buigen. 9 Want God sprak en toen was het er. Op zijn gebod stond alles er. 10 De HERE doorbreekt de plannen van de volken en voorkomt hun slechte voornemens. 11 De wil van de HERE blijft voor eeuwig bestaan. Zijn gedachten worden van generatie op generatie overgedragen. 12 Gelukkig is het volk dat de HERE als zijn God heeft, het volk dat Hij Zich als erfdeel koos. 13 De HERE kijkt uit de hemel neer en let op de mensen. 14 Vanuit zijn woning kijkt Hij naar de bewoners op aarde. 15 Hij die hen Zelf heeft gemaakt, weet precies waarom zij doen wat zij doen. 16 Een koning overwint niet door zijn grote leger, een held redt het niet door zijn grote kracht. 17 Overwinning wordt niet bewerkt door paarden alleen. Wanneer een leger ontkomt, is dat echt niet dankzij de kracht van een paard. 18 Let maar op, de HERE waakt over hen die ontzag voor Hem hebben, en over hen die zijn goedheid en liefde verwachten. 19 Zij weten dat zij alleen zo aan de dood kunnen ontkomen, dat alleen de HERE hen bewaart voor hongersnood. 20 Wij verwachten de HERE met heel ons hart. Hij helpt en beschermt ons. 21 Ja, ons hele hart juicht van vreugde en wij vertrouwen alleen op Hem. 22 HERE, laten uw goedheid en liefde ons nooit verlaten. En wij willen U altijd blijven verwachten.

The Steadfast Love of the Lord

1 Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. 2 Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts. 4 For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness. 5 He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord. 6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host. 7 He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; he puts the deeps in storehouses. 8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. 10 The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples. 11 The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage! 13 The Lord looks down from heaven; he sees all the children of man; 14 from where he sits enthroned he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, 15 he who fashions the hearts of them all and observes all their deeds. 16 The king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. 17 The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might it cannot rescue. 18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, 19 that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine. 20 Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. 21 For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. 22 Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.
