1 Een bedevaartslied van David. HERE, ik stel mijzelf niet boven anderen en kijk niet trots om mij heen. Ik bemoei mij niet met zaken die te hoog gegrepen zijn of die ik niet kan begrijpen.

2 Innerlijk ben ik tot rust gekomen en ik houd van de stilte. Zo rustig als een kind zit op zijn moeders schoot, zo rustig voel ik mij vanbinnen.

3 Laat het volk Israël al zijn vertrouwen op de HERE stellen, nu en voor altijd.

I Have Calmed and Quieted My Soul

1 A Song of Ascents. Of David. O Lord, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.

2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me.

3 O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.
