1Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff, and I was told, “Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship there,2but do not measure the court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample the holy city for forty-two months.3And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”4These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.5And if anyone would harm them, fire pours from their mouth and consumes their foes. If anyone would harm them, this is how he is doomed to be killed.6They have the power to shut the sky, that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague, as often as they desire.7And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that rises from the bottomless pit* will make war on them and conquer them and kill them,8and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city that symbolically* is called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified.9For three and a half days some from the peoples and tribes and languages and nations will gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb,10and those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and exchange presents, because these two prophets had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth.11But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them.12Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here!” And they went up to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies watched them.13And at that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.14The second woe has passed; behold, the third woe is soon to come.
The Seventh Trumpet
15Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.”16And the twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God,17saying, “We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, who is and who was, for you have taken your great power and begun to reign.18The nations raged, but your wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear your name, both small and great, and for destroying the destroyers of the earth.”19Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings,* peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.

1به من يک چوب اندازهگيری دادند و گفتند: «برو و قسمت داخلی عبادتگاه و همچنين قربانگاهی را كه در آنست اندازه بگير، و بعد كسانی را كه در آن عبادتگاه پرستش میكنند، بشمار.2اما محوطهٔ بيرونی را اندازه نگير زيرا به ساير قومها واگذار شده است؛ ايشان به مدت چهل و دو ماه ”شهر مقدس“ را پايمال خواهند كرد.3اما من دو شاهد خود را خواهم فرستاد و به آنان قدرت خواهم داد تا پلاس پوشيده، برای مدت هزار و دويست و شصت روز پيغام مرا به گوش مردم برسانند.»4اين دو شاهد همان دو درخت زيتون و دو چراغدان هستند كه در حضور خدای تمام زمين میايستند.5هر كه بخواهد به ايشان اذيت و آزاری برساند، با آتشی كه از دهانشان بيرون میآيد، نابود خواهد شد.6ايشان، در اين سه سال و نيم كه پيغام خدا را به مردم اعلام میكنند، قدرت خواهند داشت هرگاه كه بخواهند، مانع بارش باران گردند، چشمههای آب را به خون تبديل كنند و جهان را به بلايای گوناگون دچار سازند.7وقتی آن دو نفر دورهٔ سه سال و نيمهٔ شهادت خود را به پايان برسانند، آن جانور عجيب كه از چاه بیانتها بيرون میآيد، به ايشان اعلان جنگ خواهد داد و ايشان را شكست داده، خواهد كشت.8اجساد آنان نيز سه روز و نيم در خيابانهای«شهر بزرگ» به نمايش گذاشته خواهد شد. اين شهر از نظر ظلم و فساد شبيه سدوم و مصر است و جايی است كه خداوند ايشان نيز بر روی صليب كشته شد. در اين مدت، به كسی اجازه داده نمیشود جنازهٔ ايشان را دفن كند، و مردم از قومهای مختلف آنها را تماشا خواهند كرد.10در سراسر دنيا، همه برای مرگ اين دو سخنگوی خدا كه اينقدر مردم را به تنگ آورده بودند، به جشن و پايكوبی خواهند پرداخت و برای يكديگر هديه خواهند فرستاد.11اما پس از سه روز و نيم، روح حياتبخش از جانب خدا وارد جسم آن دو خواهد شد و ايشان بر پايهای خود خواهند ايستاد. با ديدن اين صحنه، همه دچار وحشتی هولناک خواهند شد،12و صدايی از آسمان خواهند شنيد كه به آن دو میگويد: «به اينجا بالا بياييد!» آنگاه ايشان در برابر چشمان حيرتزدهٔ دشمنان، با ابرها به آسمان بالا خواهند رفت.13در همان لحظه، زلزلهٔ شديدی رخ خواهد داد كه يک دهم شهر را با خاک يكسان خواهد كرد و هفت هزار نفر كشته خواهند شد. آنگاه كسانی كه زنده ماندهاند، از ترس، خدای آسمان را پرستش خواهند كرد.14دو بلا گذشت. بلای سوم بزودی از راه خواهد رسيد.
شيپور هفتم
15درست در همين هنگام كه فرشتهٔ هفتم شيپور خود را به صدا درآورد، از آسمان صداهای بلندی به گوش رسيد كه میگفت: «سلطنت جهان از آنِ خداوند ما و مسيح او شد و او تا ابد سلطان است.»16آنگاه بيست و چهار رهبر روحانی كه در حضور خدا بر تختهای خود نشسته بودند، روی بر زمين نهاده، او را سجده كردند،17و گفتند: «ای خداوند، خدای توانا و بیهمتا كه هستی و بودی، تو را سپاس میگوييم كه قدرت عظيم خود را به دست گرفته و سلطنت را شروع كردهای.18قومها بر تو خشمناک بودند، اما اكنون تويی كه بايد بر آنان خشمناک شوی. اينک وقت آن است كه مردگان را داوری نمايی و به خدمتگزارانت يعنی پيامبران، ايمانداران و كسانی كه به نام تو احترام میگذارند، از كوچک و بزرگ پاداش دهی. اينک وقت آن است كه همهٔ كسانی را كه دنيا را به نابودی كشاندهاند، نابود سازی.»19آنگاه خانهٔ خدا در آسمان گشوده شد و صندوقی كه عهدنامهٔ خدا در آن بود، ظاهر گشت. سپس رعد و برق شد و آسمان غريد و تگرگ و زلزله پديد آمد.
