O God, Do Not Keep Silence

1 A Song. A Psalm of Asaph. O God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God! 2 For behold, your enemies make an uproar; those who hate you have raised their heads. 3 They lay crafty plans against your people; they consult together against your treasured ones. 4 They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more!” 5 For they conspire with one accord; against you they make a covenant— 6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, 7 Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; 8 Asshur also has joined them; they are the strong arm of the children of Lot. 9 Do to them as you did to Midian, as to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon, 10 who were destroyed at En-dor, who became dung for the ground. 11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, 12 who said, “Let us take possession for ourselves of the pastures of God.” 13 O my God, make them like whirling dust,* like chaff before the wind. 14 As fire consumes the forest, as the flame sets the mountains ablaze, 15 so may you pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your hurricane! 16 Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name, O Lord. 17 Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever; let them perish in disgrace, 18 that they may know that you alone, whose name is the Lord, are the Most High over all the earth.

1 Oh Dios, no guardes silencio; no te quedes, oh Dios, callado e impasible. 2 Mira cómo se alborotan tus enemigos, cómo te desafían los que te odian. 3 Con astucia conspiran contra tu pueblo; conspiran contra aquellos a quienes tú estimas. 4 Y dicen: «¡Vengan, destruyamos su nación! ¡Que el nombre de Israel no vuelva a recordarse!» 5 Como un solo hombre se confabulan; han hecho un pacto contra ti: 6 los campamentos de Edom y de Ismael, los de Moab y de Agar, 7 Guebal,* Amón y Amalec, los de Filistea y los habitantes de Tiro. 8 ¡Hasta Asiria se les ha unido; ha apoyado a los descendientes de Lot! Selah 9 Haz con ellos como hiciste con Madián, como hiciste con Sísara y Jabín en el río Quisón, 10 los cuales perecieron en Endor y quedaron en la tierra, como estiércol. 11 Haz con sus nobles como hiciste con Oreb y con Zeb; haz con todos sus príncipes como hiciste con Zeba y con Zalmuna, 12 que decían: «Vamos a adueñarnos de los pastizales de Dios.» 13 Hazlos rodar como zarzas, Dios mío; ¡como paja que se lleva el viento! 14 Y así como el fuego consume los bosques y las llamas incendian las montañas, 15 así persíguelos con tus tormentas y aterrorízalos con tus tempestades. 16 Señor, cúbreles el rostro de ignominia, para que busquen tu nombre. 17 Que sean siempre puestos en vergüenza; que perezcan humillados. 18 Que sepan que tú eres el Señor, que ése es tu nombre; que sepan que sólo tú eres el Altísimo sobre toda la tierra.
