Servicio racional

1 Así que, hermanos, os exhorto por la gran misericordia de Dios que presentéis vuestros cuerpos como sacrificio vivo, santo, agradable a Dios, que es vuestro servicio racional.

2 No os adaptéis al mundo, sino sed transformados por la renovación de la mente, para que comprobéis cuál es la voluntad de Dios: Lo bueno, lo aceptable y lo perfecto.

Dones espirituales

3 Ordeno pues, por la gracia que me fue dada, a cada cual que está entre vosotros, que no piense más altamente de lo que debe pensar, sino que piense con sobriedad, según la medida de fe que Dios dio a cada uno.

4 Porque así como en un cuerpo tenemos muchos miembros, pero no todos los miembros tienen la misma función;

5 así los muchos somos un cuerpo en el Mesías, y cada uno, miembros los unos de los otros.

6 De manera que teniendo diferentes dones, según la gracia que nos fue dada, si es de profecía, úselo según la analogía de la fe;

7 si diaconado, en el servicio; el que enseña, en la enseñanza,

8 el que exhorta, en la exhortación; el que comparte, con generosidad; el que cuida de los demás, con diligencia; el que hace misericordia, con alegría.

Características cristianas

9 El amor sea sin hipocresía, aborreciendo lo malo, allegaos a lo bueno;

10 amándoos unos a otros con amor fraternal; en cuanto a honor, prefiriéndoos unos a otros;

11 en cuanto a diligencia, no perezosos; fervientes en espíritu, sirviendo al Señor;

12 regocijándoos en la esperanza, sufridos en la tribulación, perseverando en la oración;

13 contribuyendo para las necesidades de los santos, practicando la hospitalidad.

14 Bendecid a los que os persiguen, bendecid y no maldigáis.

15 Regocijarse con los que se regocijan, llorar con los que lloran;

16 teniendo el mismo sentir los unos con los otros, no siendo altivos, sino asociándoos con los humildes. No seáis sabios en vuestra opinión;

17 no paguéis a nadie mal por mal, procurad lo bueno delante de todos los hombres.

18 Si es posible, en lo que depende de vosotros, procurad la paz con todos los hombres.

19 No toméis venganza vosotros mismos, amados, sino dad lugar a la ira; porque está escrito: Mía es la venganza, Yo pagaré, dice el Señor.

20 Así que, si tu enemigo tiene hambre, dale de comer; si tiene sed, dale de beber; porque haciendo esto amontonarás ascuas sobre su cabeza.

21 No seas vencido por lo malo, sino vence con el bien el mal.

A Living Sacrifice

1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers,* by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.*

2 Do not be conformed to this world,* but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.*

Gifts of Grace

3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.

4 For as in one body we have many members,* and the members do not all have the same function,

5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith;

7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching;

8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads,* with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

Marks of the True Christian

9 Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.

10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.

11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit,* serve the Lord.

12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

13 Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.

15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.

16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly.* Never be wise in your own sight.

17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.

18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it* to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
