1Los hijos: Obedeced en el Señor a vuestros progenitores, porque esto es justo.2Honra a tu padre y a la madre, que es el primer mandamiento con promesa,3para que te vaya bien, y serás de larga vida sobre la tierra.4Y los padres: No provoquéis a ira a vuestros hijos, sino criadlos con disciplina e instrucción del Señor.
Relación de los siervos con los amos
5Los siervos: Obedeced a los señores según la carne, con temor y temblor, con sinceridad de corazón, como al Mesías;6no sirviendo al ojo, como los que procuran agradar a los hombres, sino como siervos del Mesías, haciendo la voluntad de Dios desde lo íntimo del ser.7Servid con buena voluntad, como al Señor, y no a los hombres;8sabiendo que cada uno, según lo bueno que haga, esto obtendrá del Señor, sea esclavo o sea libre.9Y los amos: Haced lo mismo con ellos, no recurriendo a la amenaza, sabiendo que el Señor, tanto de ellos como vuestro, está en los cielos, y que no hay acepción de personas en su presencia.
La armadura del cristiano
10Por lo demás, sed fortalecidos en el Señor, y en el poder de su fuerza.11Revestíos de toda la armadura de Dios, para que podáis estar firmes contra las asechanzas del diablo,12porque no tenemos lucha contra sangre y carne, sino contra los principados, contra las potestades, contra los gobernadores del mundo de las tinieblas, contra las huestes espirituales de maldad en las regiones celestes.13Por tanto, tomad la armadura completa de Dios, para que podáis resistir en el día malo y, habiendo hecho todo, estar firmes.14Estad, pues, firmes, ceñida vuestra cintura con la verdad, revestidos con la coraza de justicia,15y calzados los pies con el apresto del evangelio de la paz.16Sobre todo, tomad el escudo de la fe, con el cual podréis apagar todos los dardos de fuego del maligno;17y aceptad el yelmo de la salvación y la espada del Espíritu, que es la palabra de Dios.18Orad siempre en el Espíritu mediante toda oración y súplica, velando también para ello con toda perseverancia y súplica por todos los santos,19y por mí, para que me sea dada palabra al abrir mi boca, a fin de dar a conocer abiertamente el misterio del evangelio,20por el cual soy embajador en cadenas; para que osadamente hable acerca de él, como debo hablar.

Children and Parents
1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.2“Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise),3“that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.”4Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Bondservants and Masters
5Bondservants,* obey your earthly masters* with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ,6not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,7rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man,8knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free.9Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master* and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him.
The Whole Armor of God
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.14Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,15and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.16In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;17and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,18praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,19and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,20for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.
