1 And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly. 2 Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers. 3 So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness. 4 But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem. 5 Moreover the brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it. 6 And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it. 7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee. 8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead. 9 Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude. 10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great? 11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king: 12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like. 13 Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel. 14 And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem. 15 And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the vale for abundance. 16 And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king' merchants received the linen yarn at a price. 17 And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.

Salomos Opfer in Gibeon

1 Und Salomo, der Sohn Davids, erstarkte in seinem Königtum, und der HERR, sein Gott, war mit ihm und machte ihn immer größer. (1Ki 2:12; 1Ki 2:46; 1Ki 3:1) 2 Und Salomo redete mit ganz Israel, mit den Obersten über Tausend und über Hundert, mit den Richtern und mit allen Fürsten in Israel, mit den Häuptern der Sippen, 3 dass sie hingingen, Salomo und die ganze Gemeinde mit ihm, zu der Höhe, die zu Gibeon war; denn dort war die Stiftshütte Gottes, die Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, in der Wüste gemacht hatte. – (1Ch 16:39; 1Ch 21:29) 4 Nur die Lade Gottes hatte David heraufgebracht von Kirjat-Jearim an die Stätte, die er ihr bereitet hatte; denn er hatte ihr ein Zelt aufgeschlagen zu Jerusalem. – (1Ch 13:6; 1Ch 15:3; 1Ch 15:28; 1Ch 16:1)

5 Auch der bronzene Altar, den Bezalel, der Sohn Uris, des Sohnes Hurs, gemacht hatte, war dort vor der Wohnung des HERRN. Und Salomo und die Gemeinde pflegten ihn aufzusuchen. (Ex 38:1) 6 Und Salomo opferte vor dem HERRN tausend Brandopfer auf dem bronzenen Altar, der vor der Stiftshütte stand.

Salomos Bitte um Weisheit

7 In derselben Nacht aber erschien Gott dem Salomo und sprach zu ihm: Bitte, was ich dir geben soll. (1Ki 3:5) 8 Und Salomo sprach zu Gott: Du hast große Barmherzigkeit an meinem Vater David getan und hast mich an seiner statt zum König gemacht. 9 So lass nun, HERR, Gott, dein Wort an meinen Vater David wahr werden; denn du hast mich zum König gemacht über ein Volk, das so viel ist wie Staub auf Erden. 10 So gib mir nun Weisheit und Erkenntnis, dass ich vor diesem Volk aus und ein gehe; denn wer kann dies dein großes Volk richten? 11 Da sprach Gott zu Salomo: Weil du dies im Sinn hast und nicht gebeten um Reichtum noch um Gut noch um Ehre noch um deiner Feinde Tod noch um langes Leben, sondern hast um Weisheit und Erkenntnis gebeten, mein Volk zu richten, über das ich dich zum König gemacht habe, 12 so sei dir Weisheit und Erkenntnis gegeben. Dazu will ich dir Reichtum, Gut und Ehre geben, wie sie die Könige vor dir nicht gehabt haben und auch die nach dir nicht haben werden. 13 So kam Salomo von der Höhe, die bei Gibeon war, von der Stiftshütte, nach Jerusalem und war König über Israel.

Salomos Heeresmacht und Reichtum

14 Und Salomo brachte Wagen und Reiter zusammen, sodass er 1400 Wagen und 12000 Reiter hatte, und legte sie in die Wagenstädte und zum König nach Jerusalem. (1Ki 10:26) 15 Und der König brachte so viel Silber und Gold nach Jerusalem wie Steine und so viele Zedern wie Maulbeerbäume im Hügelland. 16 Und man brachte Salomo Pferde aus Ägypten und aus Koë; die Kaufleute des Königs kauften sie aus Koë; 17 aus Ägypten aber brachten sie herauf den Wagen für sechshundert Silberstücke und das Pferd für hundertfünfzig. Dann führten sie diese wieder aus an alle Könige der Hetiter und an die Könige von Aram.

18 Und Salomo gedachte dem Namen des HERRN ein Haus zu bauen und ein Haus für seine Königsherrschaft. (1Ki 5:15)
