15Und ich versammelte sie an dem Fluss, der nach Ahawa fließt; und wir lagerten dort drei Tage lang. Und ich schaute mich um unter dem Volk und den Priestern, aber ich fand keinen von den Söhnen Levis dort.16Da ließ ich die Obersten Elieser, Ariel, Schemaja, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Sacharja und Meschullam rufen und die verständigen Männer Jojarib und Elnathan.17Denen gab ich Befehl an Iddo, den Obersten in dem Ort Kasiphja, und legte die Worte in ihren Mund, die sie zu Iddo und seinem Bruder, den Tempeldienern in der Ortschaft Kasiphja, reden sollten, damit sie uns Diener für das Haus unseres Gottes herbrächten.18Die brachten uns, dank der guten Hand unseres Gottes über uns, einen verständigen Mann von den Söhnen Machlis, des Sohnes Levis, des Sohnes Israels, nämlich Serebja, samt seinen Söhnen und seinen Brüdern, 18 [Mann];19und Hasabja und mit ihm Jesaja, von den Söhnen Meraris, samt seinen Brüdern und ihren Söhnen, 20 [Mann];20und von den Tempeldienern, welche David und die Fürsten zum Dienst der Leviten bestimmt hatten, 220 Tempeldiener; alle waren mit Namen angegeben.21Und ich ließ dort an dem Fluss Ahawa ein Fasten ausrufen, dass wir uns demütigten vor unserem Gott, um von ihm einen geebneten Weg für uns und unsere Kinder und alle unsere Habe zu erflehen.22Denn ich schämte mich, vom König ein Heer und Reiter anzufordern, die uns gegen den Feind auf dem Weg helfen könnten; denn wir hatten mit dem König geredet und gesagt: »Die Hand unseres Gottes ist über allen, die ihn suchen, zu ihrem Guten; seine Stärke aber und sein Zorn sind gegen alle, die ihn verlassen!«23So fasteten wir und erflehten dies von unserem Gott; und er erhörte uns.24Und ich sonderte von den obersten Priestern zwölf aus, nämlich Serebja und Hasabja und mit ihnen zehn von ihren Brüdern,25und ich übergab ihnen das abgewogene Silber, das Gold und die Geräte, das Hebopfer für das Haus unseres Gottes, das der König und seine Räte und Fürsten und ganz Israel, das sich dort befand, als Hebopfer gegeben hatten.26Ich übergab ihnen aber abgewogen in ihre Hand: 650 Talente Silber, und an silbernen Geräten 100 Talente, und 100 Talente Gold.27Auch 20 goldene Becher, die waren 1 000 Dareiken wert, und zwei Geräte aus goldglänzendem, gutem Erz, kostbar wie Gold.28Und ich sprach zu ihnen: Ihr seid dem HERRN heilig; und die Geräte sind auch heilig, und das Silber und Gold ist dem HERRN, dem Gott eurer Väter, freiwillig gegeben.29So seid wachsam und bewahrt es, bis ihr es abwägen werdet vor den Obersten der Priester und Leviten und den Obersten der Väter von Israel in Jerusalem, in den Kammern des Hauses des HERRN!30Da nahmen die Priester und Leviten das abgewogene Silber und Gold und die Geräte entgegen, um sie nach Jerusalem zum Haus unseres Gottes zu bringen.31So brachen wir vom Fluss Ahawa auf am zwölften Tag des ersten Monats, um nach Jerusalem zu ziehen; und die Hand unseres Gottes war über uns, und er errettete uns vor der Hand des Feindes und des Wegelagerers.32Und wir kamen nach Jerusalem und ruhten dort drei Tage lang aus.33Aber am vierten Tag wurden das Silber und das Gold und die Geräte im Haus unseres Gottes abgewogen in die Hand Meremots, des Sohnes Urijas, des Priesters, übergeben — mit ihm war auch Eleasar, der Sohn des Pinehas, und mit ihnen Josabad, der Sohn Jeschuas, und Noadja, der Sohn Binnuis, die Leviten —,34alles nach Anzahl und Gewicht; und das ganze Gewicht wurde damals aufgeschrieben.35Und die Kinder der Wegführung, die aus der Gefangenschaft gekommen waren, brachten dem Gott Israels Brandopfer dar, 12 Jungstiere für ganz Israel, 96 Widder, 77 Lämmer, sowie 12 Böcke zum Sündopfer; alles als Brandopfer für den HERRN.36Und sie übergaben die Befehle des Königs den Satrapen des Königs und den Statthaltern jenseits des Stromes. Da unterstützten diese das Volk und das Haus Gottes.

and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen;19And Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brethren and their sons, twenty;20Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.21Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.22For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.23So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.24Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,25And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellors, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered:26I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, and of gold an hundred talents;27Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold.28And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the LORD; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the LORD God of your fathers.29Watch ye, and keep them , until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.30So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.31Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.32And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.33Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites;34By number and by weight of every one: and all the weight was written at that time.35Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering unto the LORD.36And they delivered the king' commissions unto the king' lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of God.
