Die gescheiterte Überführung der Bundeslade. Ussas Tod.

1 Und David hielt Rat mit den Obersten über Tausend und über Hundert, mit allen Fürsten. 2 Und David sprach zu der ganzen Gemeinde Israels: Wenn es euch gut erscheint und wenn es von dem HERRN, unserem Gott ist, so lasst uns rasch [Botschaft] senden zu unseren übrigen Brüdern in allen Gegenden Israels, sowie zu den Priestern und Leviten in ihren Bezirksstädten, dass sie sich zu uns versammeln; 3 und lasst uns die Lade unseres Gottes wieder zu uns holen; denn zu den Zeiten Sauls fragten wir nicht nach ihr! 4 Da sagte die ganze Gemeinde, dass man so handeln solle; denn diese Sache war recht in den Augen des ganzen Volkes. 5 So versammelte David ganz Israel vom Sihorfluss in Ägypten an bis nach Lebo-Hamat, um die Lade Gottes von Kirjat-Jearim zu holen. 6 Und David zog mit ganz Israel hinauf nach Baala, das ist Kirjat-Jearim, welches in Juda liegt, um die Lade Gottes, des HERRN, der über den Cherubim thront, wo sein Name angerufen wird, von dort heraufzuholen. 7 Und sie ließen die Lade Gottes auf einem neuen Wagen aus dem Haus Abinadabs führen; und Ussa und Achio lenkten den Wagen. 8 David aber und ganz Israel spielten vor Gott her mit aller Kraft, mit Liedern und Lauten, mit Harfen und Handpauken, mit Zimbeln und Trompeten. 9 Als sie aber zur Tenne Kidon kamen, streckte Ussa seine Hand aus, um die Lade zu halten; denn die Rinder waren ausgeglitten. 10 Da entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN über Ussa, und er schlug ihn, weil er seine Hand an die Lade gelegt hatte; und er starb dort vor Gott. 11 Und David entbrannte darüber*, dass der HERR den Ussa so hinweggerafft hatte, und er nannte jenen Ort Perez-Ussa bis zu diesem Tag. 12 Und David fürchtete sich vor Gott an jenem Tag und sprach: Wie soll ich die Lade Gottes zu mir bringen? 13 Darum ließ David die Lade nicht zu sich in die Stadt Davids bringen, sondern ließ sie beiseiteführen in das Haus Obed-Edoms, des Gatiters. 14 So blieb die Lade Gottes beim Haus Obed-Edoms, in seinem Haus, drei Monate lang. Und der HERR segnete das Haus Obed-Edoms und alles, was er hatte.

The Ark Brought from Kiriath-Jearim

1 David consulted with the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, with every leader. 2 And David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you and from the Lord our God, let us send abroad to our brothers who remain in all the lands of Israel, as well as to the priests and Levites in the cities that have pasturelands, that they may be gathered to us. 3 Then let us bring again the ark of our God to us, for we did not seek it* in the days of Saul.” 4 All the assembly agreed to do so, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

Uzzah and the Ark

5 So David assembled all Israel from the Nile* of Egypt to Lebo-hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim. 6 And David and all Israel went up to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath-jearim that belongs to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of the Lord who sits enthroned above the cherubim. 7 And they carried the ark of God on a new cart, from the house of Abinadab, and Uzzah and Ahio* were driving the cart. 8 And David and all Israel were celebrating before God with all their might, with song and lyres and harps and tambourines and cymbals and trumpets. 9 And when they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah put out his hand to take hold of the ark, for the oxen stumbled. 10 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he put out his hand to the ark, and he died there before God. 11 And David was angry because the Lord had broken out against Uzzah. And that place is called Perez-uzza* to this day. 12 And David was afraid of God that day, and he said, “How can I bring the ark of God home to me?” 13 So David did not take the ark home into the city of David, but took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. 14 And the ark of God remained with the household of Obed-edom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that he had.
