1 Ein Wallfahrtslied (oder Stufenlied? vgl. Ps 120) Davids. HERR, mein Herz ist nicht hochfahrend, und meine Augen erheben sich nicht stolz; ich gehe nicht mit Dingen um, die vermessen sind und mir zu hoch*. 2 Nein, ich habe mein Herz beruhigt und gestillt; wie ein entwöhntes Kind an der Mutter Brust, so ruht entwöhnt mein Herz in mir. – 3 Israel, harre des HERRN von nun an bis in Ewigkeit.

I Have Calmed and Quieted My Soul

1 A Song of Ascents. Of David. O Lord, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. 2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me. 3 O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.
