1Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab.2And after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramothgilead.3And Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramothgilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art , and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war.4And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.5Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the king' hand.6But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?7And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.8And the king of Israel called for one of his officers, and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.9And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah sat either of them on his throne, clothed in their robes, and they sat in a void place at the entering in of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.10And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made him horns of iron, and said, Thus saith the LORD, With these thou shalt push Syria until they be consumed.11And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.12And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one assent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.13And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, even what my God saith, that will I speak.14And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go ye up, and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand.15And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the LORD?16Then he said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return therefore every man to his house in peace.17And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would not prophesy good unto me, but evil?18Again he said, Therefore hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.19And the LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.20Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will entice him. And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith?21And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the LORD said, Thou shalt entice him , and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do even so.22Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.23Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah upon the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?24And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see on that day when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.25Then the king of Israel said, Take ye Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king' son;26And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.27And Micaiah said, If thou certainly return in peace, then hath not the LORD spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, all ye people.28So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramothgilead.29And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and will go to the battle; but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went to the battle.30Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots that were with him, saying, Fight ye not with small or great, save only with the king of Israel.31And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.32For it came to pass, that, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back again from pursuing him.33And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: therefore he said to his chariot man, Turn thine hand, that thou mayest carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.34And the battle increased that day: howbeit the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the even: and about the time of the sun going down he died.

1Als nun Josaphat großen Reichtum und Ehre erlangt hatte, da verschwägerte er sich mit Ahab.2Und nach etlichen Jahren zog er zu Ahab hinab, nach Samaria. Und Ahab ließ für ihn und das Volk, das bei ihm war, viele Schafe und Rinder schlachten und überredete ihn, nach Ramot in Gilead hinaufzuziehen.3Denn Ahab, der König von Israel, sprach zu Josaphat, dem König von Juda: Willst du mit mir nach Ramot in Gilead hinaufziehen? Er sprach zu ihm: Ich will sein wie du, und mein Volk sei wie dein Volk, und ich will mit dir in den Kampf ziehen!4Und Josaphat sprach zum König von Israel: Befrage doch heute das Wort des HERRN!5Da versammelte der König von Israel die Propheten, 400 Mann, und sprach zu ihnen: Sollen wir nach Ramot in Gilead in den Krieg ziehen, oder soll ich es lassen? Sie sprachen: Zieh hinauf, und Gott wird sie in die Hand des Königs geben!6Josaphat aber sprach: Ist hier kein Prophet des HERRN mehr, den wir fragen könnten?7Der König von Israel aber sprach zu Josaphat: Es gibt noch einen Mann, durch den man den HERRN befragen kann; aber ich hasse ihn, denn er weissagt mir nichts Gutes, sondern immer nur Böses; das ist Micha, der Sohn Jimlas! Josaphat aber antwortete: Der König rede doch nicht so!8Da rief der König von Israel einen Kämmerer und sprach: Bring Micha, den Sohn Jimlas, rasch her!9Und der König von Israel und Josaphat, der König von Juda, saßen jeder auf seinem Thron, in königliche Gewänder gekleidet. Sie saßen aber auf dem Platz am Eingang des Tores von Samaria, und alle Propheten weissagten vor ihnen.10Und Zedekia, der Sohn Kenaanas, hatte sich eiserne Hörner gemacht und sprach: So spricht der HERR: Hiermit wirst du die Aramäer niederstoßen, bis du sie vernichtet hast!11Und alle Propheten weissagten ebenso und sprachen: Zieh hinauf nach Ramot in Gilead, und es wird dir gelingen, denn der HERR wird es in die Hand des Königs geben!12Der Bote aber, der hingegangen war, um Micha zu rufen, redete mit ihm und sprach: Siehe, die Worte der Propheten verkünden einstimmig Gutes für den König; so lass nun dein Wort auch sein wie das Wort eines jeden von ihnen und rede Gutes!13Micha aber sprach: So wahr der HERR lebt, ich will reden, was mein Gott sagen wird!
Micha weissagt den Tod Ahabs
14Und als er zum König kam, sagte der König zu ihm: Micha, sollen wir nach Ramot in Gilead in den Krieg ziehen, oder soll ich es lassen? Und er sprach: Zieht hinauf! Es soll euch gelingen, denn sie werden in eure Hände gegeben werden!15Da sprach der König zu ihm: Wie oft muss ich dich beschwören, dass du mir nichts als die Wahrheit sagen sollst im Namen des HERRN?16Da sagte er: Ich sah ganz Israel auf den Bergen zerstreut, wie Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben; und der HERR sprach: »Diese haben keinen Herrn; ein jeder kehre wieder heim in Frieden!«17Da sprach der König von Israel zu Josaphat: Habe ich dir nicht gesagt, dass er mir nichts Gutes weissagt, sondern nur Böses?18[Micha] aber sprach: Darum hört das Wort des HERRN! Ich sah den HERRN auf seinem Thron sitzen, und das ganze Heer des Himmels stand zu seiner Rechten und zu seiner Linken.19Und der HERR sprach: »Wer will Ahab, den König von Israel, betören, dass er hinaufzieht und bei Ramot in Gilead fällt?« Und einer sagte dies, der andere das.20Da trat ein Geist hervor und stellte sich vor den HERRN und sprach: »Ich will ihn betören!« Und der HERR sprach zu ihm: »Womit?«21Und er sprach: »Ich will hingehen und ein Lügengeist sein im Mund aller seiner Propheten!« Da sprach er: »Du sollst ihn betören, und du wirst es auch ausführen! Geh hin und mache es so!«22Und nun siehe, der HERR hat einen Lügengeist in den Mund dieser deiner Propheten gelegt; und der HERR hat Unheil über dich geredet!23Da trat Zedekia, der Sohn Kenaanas, herzu und gab Micha einen Backenstreich und sprach: Auf welchem Weg ist der Geist des HERRN von mir gewichen, um mit dir zu reden?24Und Micha sprach: Siehe, du wirst es sehen an jenem Tag, an dem du in die innerste Kammer gehen wirst, um dich zu verbergen!25Da sprach der König von Israel: Nehmt Micha und bringt ihn wieder zu Amon, dem Obersten der Stadt, und zu Joas, dem Sohn des Königs,26und sagt: So spricht der König: Legt diesen in den Kerker und speist ihn mit Brot der Drangsal und mit Wasser der Drangsal,* bis ich in Frieden wiederkomme!27Micha aber sprach: Wenn du in Frieden wiederkommst, dann hat der HERR nicht durch mich geredet! Und dann sagte er: Hört es, ihr Völker alle!
Ahabs Niederlage und Tod
28Da zogen der König von Israel und Josaphat, der König von Juda, hinauf nach Ramot in Gilead.29Und der König von Israel sprach zu Josaphat: Ich will verkleidet in den Kampf ziehen; du aber ziehe deine Gewänder an! So verkleidete sich der König von Israel, und sie zogen in den Kampf.30Aber der König von Aram hatte seinen Obersten über die Streitwagen geboten und gesagt: Ihr sollt weder gegen Kleine noch Große kämpfen, sondern nur gegen den König von Israel!31Und es geschah, als die Obersten der Streitwagen Josaphat sahen, da sprachen sie: Das ist der König von Israel!, und umringten ihn, um zu kämpfen. Aber Josaphat schrie, und der HERR half ihm; und Gott lockte sie von ihm weg.32Und es geschah, als die Obersten der Streitwagen sahen, dass er nicht der König von Israel war, da wandten sie sich von ihm ab.33Aber ein Mann spannte seinen Bogen aufs Geratewohl und traf den König von Israel zwischen den Fugen des Panzers. Da sprach er zu seinem Wagenlenker: Wende um und bringe mich aus dem Heer; denn ich bin verwundet!34Aber der Kampf wurde immer heftiger an jenem Tag. So blieb der König von Israel auf seinem Streitwagen stehen, den Aramäern gegenüber, bis zum Abend, und er starb zur Zeit des Sonnenuntergangs.
