Jesaja 20 | King James Version

1 In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it;

2 At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

3 And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;

4 So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

5 And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.

6 And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?

Profeție împotriva Egiptului și a lui Cuș

1 În anul în care Tartan*, trimis de împăratul Sargon al Asiriei, a venit la Așdod, l‑a asediat și l‑a cucerit,

2 DOMNUL i‑a vorbit lui Isaia, fiul lui Amoț, zicând: „Du‑te, dă‑ți jos sacul de jale de pe coapse și scoate‑ți sandalele din picioare!“ El a făcut întocmai, umblând gol și desculț.

3 DOMNUL a zis: „Așa cum robul Meu Isaia a umblat gol și desculț timp de trei ani, ca un semn și ca o prevestire împotriva Egiptului și a lui Cuș*,

4 tot așa împăratul Asiriei îi va duce departe pe captivii Egiptului și pe exilații lui Cuș, pe tineri și pe bătrâni, goi și desculți, cu dosul descoperit, spre rușinea Egiptului.*

5 Atunci se vor înspăimânta și se vor rușina la vederea* lui Cuș, speranța lor, și a Egiptului, măreția lor.

6 În ziua aceea, locuitorii de pe țărmul acesta vor zice: «Iată ce li s‑a întâmplat celor în care ne‑am pus speranța și la care am fugit după ajutor și izbăvire dinaintea împăratului Asiriei! Oare cine ne va mai izbăvi acum?»“
