12 One of the Cretans,[1] a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”[2] (Ac 17:28) 

New International Version

12 One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: ‘Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.’[1] 

New International Reader’s Version

12 One of Crete’s own prophets has a saying. He says, ‘People from Crete are always liars. They are evil beasts. They don’t want to work. They live only to eat.’ 

King James Version

12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.
