Romans 13:1

English Standard Version

1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. (Da 2:21; Joh 19:11; Tit 3:1; 1Pe 2:13) 

New International Version

1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 

New International Reader’s Version

1 All of you must obey those who rule over you. There are no authorities except the ones God has chosen. Those who now rule have been chosen by God. 

King James Version

1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
