Psalm 40:2

English Standard Version

2 He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. (Ps 27:5; Ps 37:23; Ps 69:2; Ps 69:14; Jer 38:6) 

New International Version

2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. 

New International Reader’s Version

2 I was sliding down into the pit of death, and he pulled me out. He brought me up out of the mud and dirt. He set my feet on a rock. He gave me a firm place to stand on. 

King James Version

2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
