Nehemiah 2:3

3 I said to the king, “Let the king live forever! Why should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ graves, lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?” (1Ki 1:31; Ne 1:3; Ne 2:13; Ne 2:17; Da 2:4; Da 5:10; Da 6:21)

New International Version

3 but I said to the king, ‘May the king live for ever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?’

New International Reader’s Version

3 But I said to the king, ‘May you live for ever! Why shouldn’t I look sad? The city where my people of long ago are buried has been destroyed. And fire has burned up its gates.’

King James Version

3 And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers'sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?
