45 But they did not understand this saying, and it was concealed from them, so that they might not perceive it. And they were afraid to ask him about this saying. (Mt 17:13; Mr 6:52; Mr 9:10; Lu 2:50; Lu 18:34; Lu 24:16; Joh 10:6; Joh 12:16; Joh 16:17)

45 But they did not understand what this meant. It was hidden from them, so that they did not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.

45 But they didn’t understand what this meant. That was because it was hidden from them. And they were afraid to ask Jesus about it. 

King James Version

45 But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.
