4 how he entered the house of God and took and ate the bread of the Presence, which is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those with him?” (Ex 25:30; Le 24:5) 

New International Version

4 He entered the house of God, and taking the consecrated bread, he ate what is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.’ 

New International Reader’s Version

4 He entered the house of God and took the holy bread. He ate the bread that only priests were allowed to eat. David also gave some to his men.’ 

King James Version

4 How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?
