26 And they were not able in the presence of the people to catch him in what he said, but marveling at his answer they became silent. (Lu 20:20) 

New International Version

26 They were unable to trap him in what he had said there in public. And astonished by his answer, they became silent. 

New International Reader’s Version

26 They were not able to trap him with what he had said there in front of all the people. Amazed by his answer, they became silent. 

King James Version

26 And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.
