Judges 18:29

English Standard Version

29 And they named the city Dan, after the name of Dan their ancestor, who was born to Israel; but the name of the city was Laish at the first. (Ge 14:14; Jud 18:7; Jud 20:1; 1Ki 12:29; 1Ki 15:20) 

New International Version

29 They named it Dan after their ancestor Dan, who was born to Israel – though the city used to be called Laish. 

New International Reader’s Version

29 They named it Dan. That’s because they traced their family line back to Dan. He was a son of Israel. The city used to be called Laish. 

King James Version

29 And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born unto Israel: howbeit the name of the city was Laish at the first.
