17 [1] And the Lord appointed[2] a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. (Mt 12:40; Mt 16:4; Lu 11:30) 

New International Version

17 Now the Lord provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

17 Now the LORD sent a huge fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights. 

King James Version

17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
