18 Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. (Jer 2:3; Joh 1:13; Ro 8:19; Ga 4:19; Eph 1:12; 1Pe 1:3; 1Pe 1:23; Re 14:4) 

New International Version

18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created. 

New International Reader’s Version

18 God chose to give us new birth through the message of truth. He wanted us to be the first harvest of his new creation. 

King James Version
