English Standard Version

2 [1] The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. (Job 3:5; Isa 9:1; Lu 1:79; Eph 5:8; Eph 5:14) 

New International Version

2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. 

New International Reader’s Version

2 The people who are now living in darkness will see a great light. They are now living in a very dark land. But a light will shine on them. 

King James Version

2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
