Esther 1:17

English Standard Version

17 For the queen’s behavior will be made known to all women, causing them to look at their husbands with contempt,[1] since they will say, ‘King Ahasuerus commanded Queen Vashti to be brought before him, and she did not come.’ 

New International Version

17 For the queen’s conduct will become known to all the women, and so they will despise their husbands and say, “King Xerxes commanded Queen Vashti to be brought before him, but she would not come.” 

New International Reader’s Version

17 All the women will hear about what the queen has done. Then they won’t respect their husbands. They’ll say, “King Xerxes commanded Queen Vashti to be brought to him. But she wouldn’t come.” 

King James Version

17 For this deed of the queen shall come abroad unto all women, so that they shall despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported, The king Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not.
