Deuteronomy 17:4

English Standard Version

4 and it is told you and you hear of it, then you shall inquire diligently, and if it is true and certain that such an abomination has been done in Israel, (De 13:14; De 19:18) 

New International Version

4 and this has been brought to your attention, then you must investigate it thoroughly. If it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, 

New International Reader’s Version

4 When you hear that people have done something like that, check the matter out carefully. If it’s true, an evil thing has been done in Israel. The LORD hates that.
