Daniel 2:14

English Standard Version

14 Then Daniel replied with prudence and discretion to Arioch, the captain of the king’s guard, who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon. (Ge 37:36; Da 2:24) 

New International Version

14 When Arioch, the commander of the king’s guard, had gone out to put to death the wise men of Babylon, Daniel spoke to him with wisdom and tact. 

New International Reader’s Version

14 Arioch was the commander of the king’s guard. He went out to put the wise men of Babylon to death. So Daniel spoke to him wisely and carefully.

14 Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king' guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:
