English Standard Version

1 Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master and in high favor, because by him the Lord had given victory to Syria. He was a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper.[1] (2Ki 4:13; Lu 4:27)

New International Version

1 Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy.[1]

New International Reader’s Version

1 Naaman was army commander of the king of Aram. He was very important to his master and was highly respected. That’s because the LORD had helped him win the battle over Aram’s enemies. He was a brave soldier. But he had a skin disease.

King James Version

1 Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.
