2 Kings 1:17

English Standard Version

17 So he died according to the word of the Lord that Elijah had spoken. Jehoram became king in his place in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, because Ahaziah had no son. (2Ki 3:1; 2Ki 8:16)

New International Version

17 So he died, according to the word of the Lord that Elijah had spoken. Because Ahaziah had no son, Joram[1] succeeded him as king in the second year of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah.

New International Reader’s Version

17 So King Ahaziah died. It happened just as the LORD had said it would. He had spoken that message through Elijah. Ahaziah didn’t have any sons. So Joram, his younger brother, became the next king after him. It was the second year of Jehoram, the king of Judah. Jehoram was the son of Jehoshaphat.

King James Version

17 So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram reigned in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.
