2 shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,[1] not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;[2] not for shameful gain, but eagerly; (Joh 21:16; 1Ti 3:8; Tit 1:7; Phm 1:14; Jud 1:12) 

New International Version

2 be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them – not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 

New International Reader’s Version

2 Be shepherds of God’s flock, the believers under your care. Watch over them, though not because you have to. Instead, do it because you want to. That’s what God wants you to do. Don’t do it because you want to get money in dishonest ways. Do it because you really want to serve. 

King James Version

2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
