1 Kings 14:15

English Standard Version

15 the Lord will strike Israel as a reed is shaken in the water, and root up Israel out of this good land that he gave to their fathers and scatter them beyond the Euphrates,[1] because they have made their Asherim, provoking the Lord to anger. (Ex 34:13; De 12:3; De 29:28; Jos 23:15; 2Ki 15:29; Ps 52:5; Pr 2:22)

New International Version

15 And the Lord will strike Israel, so that it will be like a reed swaying in the water. He will uproot Israel from this good land that he gave to their ancestors and scatter them beyond the River Euphrates, because they aroused the Lord’s anger by making Asherah poles.[1]

New International Reader’s Version

15 I, the LORD, will strike down Israel. Israel will be like tall grass swaying in the water. I will pull Israel up from this good land by the roots. I gave it to their people who lived long ago. I will scatter Israel to the east side of the River Euphrates. That is because they made the LORD very angry. They made poles used to worship the female god named Asherah.

King James Version

15 For the LORD shall smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their groves, provoking the LORD to anger.
