6 We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error. (Joh 8:47; Joh 10:16; Joh 14:17; Joh 15:26; Joh 16:13; Joh 18:37; 1Co 2:12; 1Co 14:37; 1Ti 4:1) 

New International Version

6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognise the Spirit[1] of truth and the spirit of falsehood. 

New International Reader’s Version

6 We belong to God. And those who know God listen to us. But those who don’t belong to God don’t listen to us. That’s how we can tell the difference between the Spirit of truth and the spirit of lies. 

King James Version

6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
