English Standard Version

2 though Judah became strong among his brothers and a chief came from him, yet the birthright belonged to Joseph), (Ge 49:8; Mic 5:2; Mt 2:6) 

New International Version

2 and though Judah was the strongest of his brothers and a ruler came from him, the rights of the firstborn belonged to Joseph) – 

New International Reader’s Version

2 Judah also did not have the rights of the eldest son. Judah didn’t let them even though he was the leader among his brothers. And a ruler came from his family line. But the rights of the eldest son belonged to Joseph. 

King James Version

2 For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph':)
