9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”[1] (Ge 34:19) 

New International Version

9 Jabez was more honourable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez,[1] saying, ‘I gave birth to him in pain.’ 

New International Reader’s Version

9 Jabez was more respected than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez. She had said, ‘I was in a lot of pain when he was born.’ 

King James Version

9 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
