3 But God said to me, ‘You may not build a house for my name, for you are a man of war and have shed blood.’ (2Sa 7:5; 2Sa 7:13)

3 But God said to me, “You are not to build a house for my Name, because you are a warrior and have shed blood.”

3 But God said to me, “You are not the one who will build a house for my Name. That is because you are a fighting man. You have spilled people’s blood.”
